camera support

Post by MikeFromMesa »

I am just really puzzled by this.

I use an Olympus E-M1 Mk II and shoot raw, so I downloaded and trialed PSP Ultimate 2018 before buying it and found that it does a good job with the raw images from my camera. It opens the Camera Raw dialog box for raw adjustment and everything seems to work properly, but it does not do automatic lens distortion correction for my camera. The camera list shows the E-M1, but not the E-M1 Mk II. What is puzzling is that the E-M1 has a 16MP raw image while the E-M1 Mk II has a 20MP image, the raw formats are not the same between the two cameras, and yet PSP properly handles the 20MP raw images from the Mk II, so clearly the camera is supported. Why would it properly handle the raw format, but not do automatic lens distortion correction?

What makes this even more puzzling is that AfterShot Pro, which came with PSP in the bundle, does support the E-M1 Mk II for lens distortion correction, although I had to update the supported camera list by downloading the correct profile. The software had a link to use in updating the supported cameras. Is there some way for me to download the profile for the Mk II for use with PSP? If so, how do I do that as I could find no way to update the profiles.

CLARIFICATION:

I should clarify this post by saying that I am referring to actions taken in PSP itself, not in the Camera Raw dialog box. I had turned off having PSP open raw images in Camera Raw as I did not see any reason to use it rather than using layers adjustments to do the same thing.

My lens is correctly identified in Camera Raw, but not in PSP, and that also puzzles me. Why one and not the other?
