Hi
Using Windows 10 x64 with latest updates.
I can't install Corel Paint Shop Pro 2018 because it hangs at the visual studio 2012 process, I tried to update to Update 4 (11.0.61030) but it always give an error 0x8007015e, I manually uninstalled the old pack that was not listed on ''apps and features'' using the msiinv and msiexec trick but the 11.0.61030 pack still gave me the same error.
I could grab an older pack 11.0.60610 and it installed without any problem!! Then I tried the 11.0.61030 pack again but it gave the same error again!! And yes I downloaded it directly from Microsoft, so unless they have a corrupted exe file I don't understand why I can install an old version of VS 2012 pack and not the newest one?
Because of that I still can't install PSP 2018
Should I uninstall PSP X9?

Re: Can't install PSP 2018 visual studio problem
I don't remember PSP 2018 uses a Visual Studio process.
PaintShop Pro 2018 and Visual Studio are two different programs.
Could you be more explicit ?

I am talking VS c++ redistributable 2012 package that is appearing in the setup of PSP 2018 right before it crashes with error 2147024546Jean-Luc wrote:I don't remember PSP 2018 uses a Visual Studio process.

Re: Can't install PSP 2018 visual studio problem
PSP versions are independent of each other. Quite a few of us keep a number of versions on the one computer. I, for instance, have each version going back from the current PSP 2018 going back to X6 on this computer. So if you have a working version of PSP and are having trouble installing the latest, I would definitely NOT uninstall the earlier version...

Re: Can't install PSP 2018 visual studio problem
There is definitely something wrong about visual Stuido plugin C++ on my Windows 10 x64, and unfortunately neither Microsoft nor Corel are giving me any good solution, I tried with a Trial of Videostudio x10 and it gave the same error that it didn't change anything in my system because it needs a reboot.
I don't want to uninstall and reinstall the whole Windows OS!

Re: Can't install PSP 2018 visual studio problem
I tested installation of both 32- and 64- bit VS2012 redistributable exe (from latest PSP v18 Pro archive).
It took only about 10 sec on 64bit Windows to install. All went fine.

A few tips:
Restart yourt PC so none program block VS2012 setup.
Stop for a while all antivirus, mallware tools, etc. That's parhaps your problem..

Re: Can't install PSP 2018 visual studio problem
Have you check the Event Viewer for any application and/or system errors that may be related to either PSP or VS2012? I would do as Radim suggested and try the install again. If this issue persists, look in the Event Viewer for anything that may lead you to the problem.
Another thing I would try, is to download and installing the VS2015 redistributables (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=48145); however, I'd suggest uninstalling the VS2012 first, reboot, install VS2015 redistributables, then try PSP setup again. I have VS2015 installed so I know it works fine with that.

Re: Can't install PSP 2018 visual studio problem
I have the 2015 installed already, I uninstalled 2012 in safe mode, rebooted, tried to install 2012 again but it will give me the same error as before (error 0x8007015e) while the VS2012 is uninstall!!!md12 wrote:Have you check the Event Viewer for any application and/or system errors that may be related to either PSP or VS2012? Tried to install PSP and Video Studio 2018 but both still crash at the beginning at the VS2012 c++ check.
I will try to find something in the Event Viewer
