Missing frames

Post by Sergio »

Hi,

I recently burned 3 times a DVD using ULEAD DVD Movie Factory. I did the menu as well.

The output was "shaky": it was as if during the conversion process from AVI to MPEG the software missed some frames. The end result was really poor. You could also see the lines typical of an interlaced video. The sound, however, was good, no parts were missing.

Why is that? I have a Sony Vaio with a 2600 Processor. The second time I used an external Lacie Hard Disk Drive. The result was the same. I even used two different DVD-R brands: TDK and SONY ACCUCORE. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you

Sergio

P.s.: I used the "DV Gate" software included in my Sony Vaio to capture the video.

What are the properties of your video throughout your entire process (source , capture, edit, burn, etc...) :?:

How do you capture -- firewire, analog device, converter box, etc...

I have a Canon MiniDV camcorder.

I used a FIREWIRE connection to upload my film to my LACIE HARD DISK DRIVE which is connected through another FIREWIRE cable to a TRUST card inserted in my laptop (the first time I used my Sony Vaio's Hard Disk, so there were no connections).

In the Preferences menu I set Resample quality to best .

In the Project Settings menu I chose:

HQ Dolby Digital plus Two-Pass Conversion

In Change Mpeg Settings I customized the Compression to Quality:100 and the Video Data Rate to 7000 Variable.

For the burning process I chose DVD-Video and removed the mark from the options Create DVD Folders and Create Disc Image File.

Is this enough? Please let me know if you need more information.

Thank you.

Today I also tried reducing Quality to 70 and marked the Create DVD Folder option but I had the same problem.

Are you using MF to capture via the capture module?
What are the capture properties, DV-Type 1 or DV-Type 2 or another format.

While in MF and on the timeline "Right-Click" on the video and select "Properties"
post the properties of the video back to this thread.

I captured the video using a different software: DV Gate Motion. I found it pre-installed on my computer. I usually connect the camcorder to my laptop via a firewire cable.

Do u think I should try capturing the video with MF? Now I'm having troubles with my previous dvd-authoring software (Click to DVD) which worked perfectly until I installed MF.

you should try capturing in DMF... afaik, some AVI DV codecs, when burned to DVD, can produce jerky video. not sure why....
