Can't Add file(s) to Batch Convert in VS X10
New to VS X10 on Win 10.
I've captured several .AVI files.
Everything else I've tried seems to work fine, but when I try to use Batch Convert on those files but it won't allow me to add them. If I select one, two, or all, none are ever added to the Batch Convert box. I've tried adding files from other drives as well with no luck. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum!
AVI is just a wrapper format. In other words it can be used for huge uncompressed video running at around 65 GB per hour of video, down to very compressed small format files. So to get an idea of what might be going on here could you please right click on one of these AVI files either in the Video Studio timeline or library pane and copy ALL its Properties here, or else take a screen shot of the Properties box and upload it here as an attachment.

Can we assume that these are also AVI files?I've tried adding files from other drives as well with no luck.

Thanks for the reply on Christmas Eve! Other than AVI I've tried an MPG file. Copy of file attributes are attached. I've burned that same AVI to DVD so that conversion worked fine. I just can't Add any selected files in the Batch Convert window.

Hi
Just tried using Batch Convert and I too am having problems adding DV-Avi, MTS
I tested several formats, so far Mpeg4 was the only type to add to the converter.
You should contact Corel Support to report this problem.
I'll run a few more tests but its a busy day today
Seasons Greetings

Re: Can't Add file(s) to Batch Convert in VS X10
Thanks Trevor!
I've been in contact with support on this issue.
Their suggestion so far was to watch a video on how to use Batch Convert and to uninstall and re-install, which I did, but no difference.
I duplicated your results in that I can add an Mpeg4, but nothing else, and have reported this to support.
We'll see what they say next.
Happy New Year!

Re: Can't Add file(s) to Batch Convert in VS X10
Hi Donny
I have also passed the info on the Corel Support, the more the merrier I say.
I tried other versions of Video Studio that work ok, so does seem limited to X10.5.
I also looked for the relevant files using X9 to swap with X10 but did not find any relevant to batch convert.
Hopefully support will come up with a fix.

Re: Can't Add file(s) to Batch Convert in VS X10
It seems that VS X10.5 does not recognize the DV-AVI Type 1 video when in the "Batch Convert" mode. Other versions of VS seem to have no problems. If Corel will ever bother to correct this bug???
If you can convert the type 1 to type2 then VS X10.5 works in the Batch mode.
One free program to convert from type 1 to type 2 is is http://paul.glagla.free.fr/dvdate_en.htm

Re: Can't Add file(s) to Batch Convert in VS X10
Hi Donny
Strange thought..
Smart Proxy creates files allowing us to edit high definition video where our pc struggles to cope.
The feature is similar to Batch Convert I suppose, as it renders another video file from another.
From Preferences – Performance we can manage the proxy settings, create our own template.
Adding video to the timeline will have proxy files created, ant format of our choosing.
Then move the new files from the proxy folder to a more secure folder.
I doubt that anyone has tried this as a batch converter
I have these settings for my proxy files
MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 25 fps
Frame-based
H.264 High Profile Video: 3000 Kbps, 16:9
44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps

Re: Can't Add file(s) to Batch Convert in VS X10
Just a quick update. After several frustrating and repetitive communications between myself and Corel support, including a Go To Meeting session, I was informed of the following:
"Our level 2 informed us that mp4 and avi's are the two formats not recognized by Batch convert. You should remix the file(s) using a 3rd party converter."
I consider that to be unacceptable since all previous versions of VideoStudio and Batch Convert worked fine with avi, and since I can convert an avi just fine in VS X10.5 other than in the Batch Convert.
Apparently they aren't interested in figuring out why Batch Convert doesn't work.
I've informed them of my dissatisfaction with their answer.
Thank you to you on the forum for you concern.

Re: Can't Add file(s) to Batch Convert in VS X10
Hi Donny
Sorry to hear Corel Support are taking this stance, what they say is a load of rubbish
Batch Convert works fully for all versions of Video Studio with the exception of trial versions and CVSX10.5
The latest version 2018 also is fully functional when using Batch Convert.
With the Trial version in mind, it may be that the full X10.5 version is using the same limitations for Batch as the Trial, just thinking between the lines.
Bottom line is it should work.
Donny what was your Ticket number?
