Text editing: Stroke color linked to foreground color

Post by DaveG74 »

I'm trying to create a text selection consisting of a two-color gradient with a black stroke.
But it seems as though the stroke color is locked to the foreground color.

I choose my stroke color, then select the Text tool. When I choose my foreground colors, the foreground color is represented in the Stroke icon in the tools menu.

How do I make the Stroke color independent from the Foreground color? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)

Could you post a screen capture with text and Materials palette and your settings ?

If you hover your mouse over the top color in the materials palette, it says Foreground AND Stroke color. So they are linked and cannot be set independently.

If you want a two color gradient fill and a black stroke, then you cannot use a gradient based on the foreground and background colors.
You have to edit and make a custom gradient based on the colors you want, then use this gradient as your fill and select black as your stroke color.

I didn't notice the tooltip when I hover over the Foreground color.

Thanks for the tip, Hartpaul. This is how I remember creating this effect in previous versions and I didn't realize it couldn't be done up front. :)
