When I drag the crop effect, corel crashes
It doesn't happen everytime but it does happen quite a bit. Is there a fix to this? I'm using Corel V8. Occasionally when I drag an effect onto one of my clips (ex. crop), corel stops responding and has to close out.

Hi
Unfortunately very difficult to pin point any problems that are random and occasional.
It could of course be associated with your video files, can you give details.
Right click a clip on the timeline and choose properties, what are they?
Where di d you get the video files from.
Video from Iphones may use a variable frame rate which video editors find difficult to cope with
Indeed some effects may cause issues, which ones cause the problem for you, or is it any?
More info will help

MPEG-4 File
Video type says H.264 Main Profile Video
I took it off youtube using an online converter and converted it to MP4

Re: When I drag the crop effect, corel crashes
When you right click the clip in VS (timeline or library window) it gives lots more Properties than that. In particular we need to know the frame rate e.g. 25 frames per second, 29.97 or 30 fps, 50 or 60 fps or something else. The frame size would also be useful e.g. is it 1920 x 1080, 1280 x 720 or something else. And does it saw Upper Field First?

18 frames per second,
total frames 44,000 (i imported a 30 min video and trimmed it down to about 2 seconds)
attributes says 24 bits 320 x 240
data rate 179kbs

Re: When I drag the crop effect, corel crashes
Hi
Those video properties are very low quality.
The frame size at 320 x 240 is small and data rate is low.
Frames per second would be best at 30 or 25 depending on NTSC or Pal, it is probably the frame rate of 18 that is the main issue here.
I would download again choosing the download properties typically
MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 25 fps
Frame-based
H.264 Main Profile Video: 10000 Kbps
48000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 192 Kbps
