Install only 32 bit scanner module?

Post by iraisok »

Is it possible to either a) ONLY install the 32 bit Scanner module from PSPU 32 bit application installation OR b) install the 32 BIT application then capture/save/retain ONLY the 32 Bit Scanner module if I care to uninstall the main PSPU 32 Bit application? My HP 7525e only includes the 32 driver.

Yes, I have all the space in the world and I know having PSPU 32bit allows me to run 32 bit only plugins but, that's me.

Thanks,
Ira

Thanks guys,

I guess two "no's" = NO Way Baby!

Actually, the utility that came with the HP printer doesn't offer OCR text recognition so I'm thinking no other utility that talks to the HP drive could do it. Just my thought. So nothing lost by hearing "NO."

Loving the capability of PSPU 2018 coming from a version from late '90's.

Tnx,
Ira

This may be a case of teaching grandma to suck eggs, but I assume you are aware that if you have Microsoft Office, you can use one of its tools to scan and OCR a document. It's called the Microsoft Office Document Imaging (MODI). It's not installed with Office by default but Office can be updated to show it: https://support.office.com/en-us/articl ... ABAAA=2007

Those are the instructions for the MS Office 2007 which I have, but I am sure they also exist for other versions -- though here I am assuming the tool still exists in the very latest versions of Office, especially the 365 versions.

I use this quite a lot and find the OCR surprisingly accurate -- in fact just about as good and quick as my OmniPage!

Ken,

When 2012 we vacationed in AU and yes, drove the North Island of NZ, I learned a few expressions but not "teaching grandma to suck eggs." Anyway, I have MS Office Pro 2007. Thanks for the info. I'll seek it out.

Now for an expression I learned from a Brit friend " that may be the Bees Knees".

Let me suggest another MS freebie worth knowing about Synctoy. It's not a toy but a wonderful utility to sync (plus other variations) folders and files to your portable drives. Been using for years. I never opted to use the utilities that came with the portables. Check it out. It won't be "egg in face."

Tnx (again) and happy holiday,
Ira

Thanks for the hint about SyncToy -- something I can definitely use! Although it makes no mention of Windows 10, I have nevertheless installed it on one of my Win 10 computers...

Ken,

You'll like Synctoy. I use it to sync media folders (pics, music and video), Pinnacle Studio packages (backup's of project) and Acronis images (Acronis used only to back C drive and a Data drive).

Unfortunately, MS Scanner s/w does not recognize the driver with my HP 7525e, which is a fine photo printer plus more (I also have an old HP 4050 Laserjet work horse that won't die) ... Have both connected via USB and switchable from my PC to my wife's as needed.

I recently purchased Perfect PDF 10 Premium. It includes an OCR module in both it's 64 and 32 bit product installation. It does OCR... when I choose the USB interface ... as I tried with the MS application. Still thanks for telling me about it. Best yet, MS OFF 2007 Pro did a clean uninstall of it.
