Annoying popup ads for ParticleShop

Post by dfkettle »

How do I get rid of the sh*t popup ads for ParticleShop that appear EVERY F'ING DAY in the bottom-right hand corner of my screen? Unless someone can tell me how to get rid of this virus that Corel has installed on my computer, I will NEVER purchase any product from Corel EVER AGAIN.

Which one? This one?

http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=62216

All those options were already turned off. Note that the ads I'm talking about are for ParticleShop, not PaintShop Pro. I already have PaintShop Pro 2018 installed, and I'm sure as hell not going to upgrade ParticleShop after this experience.

In any case, it sucks that Corel makes it so difficult for users to turn this sh*t off. These options should be under File->Preferences, not hidden away somewhere under the Help menu, where few people would even think of looking.

I did read to the end. Here's what the last post in the thread says:
Well, I thought that was the end of it but it's back again after selecting the option in the notification area.

Pestering your customers that have purchased your product is a sure fire way to make sure they never do it again.
I agree 100%.

It is a common practice today. On different computers (office) and mine (house), I see ad popups appearing on bottom-right corner : from Norton, Microsoft and many others. If I'm not interested, a single click closes the ad. Sometimes, the info is valuable. Companies cannot survive if they don't sell products. :!:

Many examples out there of popups. However they are often discrete and fade away after a number of seconds. I have no issues with Corel including them. But there are smart and dumb ways of doing them.
A good example are those from Nikon. They popup in the lower right corner and slowly fade away if you ignore them.

I do have a problem with them. I wouldn't if...

1) they weren't so insidious, and so difficult to remove
2) the product was free

The lengths I go to to keep ad ware and spy ware off my computer...
