VS 10 support 2K video export?

Post by windygamer »

I'm currently using VS Pro X6 and it works fine, except.
I now have a 2K monitor - 2560x1440 and am doing game captures. I'd like to post youtube videos at that resolution.
But with X6, the highest res I can export is apparently HD. It supports 4K, but I don't want to up-rez the videos.

Does X10 support export at 2K? Maybe I should upgrade. Also I didn't see a way to change the project settings to anything above 720 with x6. Does x10 allow setting project to reasonable rez like HD or 2K or 4K?

The captures will be 2560x1440 for full screen, and 2560x1360 - oddly since one game I'm playing actually does not support full screen, but only windowed.

Thanks,
wg

X10 certainly allows export in mpeg-4 at 2560 but only at 1280 for height i.e. 2560 x 1280. It also outputs to both 3840 x 1920 and 4096 x 2160.

Isn't 2560x1280 a strange size? That's 2-1 rather than the standard of 16-9. My monitor is 2560x1440 which is 16-9.
Odd
are we sure about that?

Ummm, yes I'm sure. I couldn't even find a way of activating "User defined" to move from 1280 t0 1440 in the Customize part of mpeg-4. Hopefully, though, if someone has actually achieved what you are after they'll jump in here...

I was able to create a profile for the 2650x1440 size and it seems to work.
