Render at 1:1 - How To.

Post by OBB »

I tried the usual search but you can't search the term "1:1" because of the punctuation, so I'll ask.

Is there anyway to render a project, from screencap, thru VS to a 1:1 aspect ratio? (square)

Or, Is there anyway to export video with transparencies from VS...

HELP!

" transparencies from VS" ? Not that I know of.
I know only about QT that can have alpha but you can't assign alpha channel in VS.

Hi

We can set the project properties to use a square aspect using the dv/avi option.
Using some of the compression types (Avi Tab) Microsoft 1 and Mjpeg will allow for User Defined frame sizes. (general tab), try setting 1280 x 1280.

Insert video to that frame, render from Share – Same as project Settings will create a video using 1:1 ratio.
Not sure what the quality will be, a quick test seemed to suggest Mjpeg is better.

I'm in VS8...

When I look at the project options/ choose edit or new profile/ DV AVI/ to setup a new project profile, the only option I see from the drop-down menu is the 'Ulead Mpeg4 Vio driver' as a source to choose from. And no matter whatever options I choose on the general tab (and the other drop-down menus in the same tab) the 'user defined' options stay locked & greyed out, not select-able.

How do I enable the 'USER DEFINED' section (I'm assuming this is where I need to be to setup a 1280x1280 project profile)

I also looked in the compression tab and that's just an NTSC or PAL option...

I'm looking in the correct place, yes?

But I found if I go into 'Movie Project Manager'...

I can make & ADD the template, name it, set 'user defined' as 1280x1280, then saved as 1:1 - 1280 and close. But when I try to load the 'personal' template it's not listed in the 'Movie Project' options and upon searching in Corel folder also can't be found... so, am I saving it correctly? and if correct, how do you import the 'personal' profile...

Hi
Not on my pc so cannot check the process

Your project properties are mpeg4, view your right hand image
Change the project properties to use dv avi, then edit that profile
Compression tab select Mjpeg compression
General tab should have user defined

Set 1280 x 1280

From Share to render square choose same as project settings, or one of the square profiles you created

Top left, tick the box!

Sorry cannot provide image

Thanks Lata... Got it...

I found you can do this right in the share phase...

And from .wmv,, .mov seems to work best. I tried to render as mp4 & .avi as well first but after 2 lengthy renders, neither played correctly.

So, .mov it is...

It's a shame you can just capture a square in a different format from screencap and just skip this whole mess...
