If you're new to the program you should be aware that it has 2 default workspaces - Essentials and Complete. The selected workspace when first installed is Essentials, which is supposed to be a way for new people to get familiar with the program without all of the options that, in Corel's opinion, might confuse some people. If you would rather have all options available, including being able to fully customize the workspace, then you have to choose the Complete workspace and then save your workspace file so that it will always be your default workspace.kalidor wrote:Hi thanks for the advice. I have only just bought and installed the programme so I was feeling my way round and clicked on maps to see what appears. I don't think I'll click on that for awhile. I had to uninstall and then reinstall so everything at the mo is ok.

To move between Essentials and Complete you just need to right click anywhere in the workspace. In the drop-down menu which appears, at the very bottom is Workspace. You can between Essentials and Complete there.

Re: PaintShop Pro 2018 Ultimate JavaScript (and other) Error
I have had this same problem with both Paint Shop Pro X9 and Paint Shop Pro 2018. I have gotten similar advice from Corel technical support, which did not solve the problem. It seems as if they are not aware of the generality of this issue, and that they did not fix it in going from one version to another of the software.
So I am wondering if any of the competing software out there has a mapping function, or if there is a standalone app that can do the mapping? I would still use Paint Shop Pro for editing, but avoid clicking on the globe? Any suggestions?

Re: PaintShop Pro 2018 Ultimate JavaScript (and other) Error
I was having the same problem on both 32 and 64, Google maps error code, it rendered the program useless, here's what I did to resolve it. Hold down Shift and double left click on the Paintshop Icon, it will ask you if you want to take it back to a factory reset. It only takes seconds and its a lot quicker than uninstalling and reinstalling it......FAIR WARNING........ it will remove downloaded Plug Ins and Scripts, they stay on your computer, just have to reinstall them. Basically it removes any changes or saves you have done, but as far as I have seen, will not affect any photo work you have done. The odd thing that did happen, I did this first on the 64bit version and it fixed the problem on the 32 bit version without me having to do anything to it. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip. I tried that to no avail. I still get the script error.

Magix Movie Edit Pro Plus/Premium has Travel Route Animation and if there are images on the timeline with coordinates, TRA will map them. However, the main goal is to animate a route, but you can save the map with the image locations and then work on that. Below is a screen shot of the interface. The route can be turned off, leaving just the pins. A year ago, Magix had a very similar java script problem that was most annoying. It would work in one patch, then was broken in the next. This went on for quite a while until it was fixed, hopefully permanently.
Corel should take heed and fix this problem. I have the javascript problem on one computer, but not on the other, so this type of thing must make it harder to determine the problem.

Hello Tfm,
Thank you for contacting Corel Technical Support.
My name is JV and I have been assigned to your ticket.
I understand that the you are having issues with the program, let me go ahead and help you.
Try to update your windows programs and reset your I.E. Corel Programs are very dependent to Internet Explorer. Here's a simple step to reset your I.E.
1. Press WINDOWS KEY + R
2. Type INETCPL.CPL and hit OK (this will pull up Internet Options)
3. Go to the Security tab and hit "Reset All Zones To Default Level"
4. Go to the Advanced tab and click "Restore Advanced Settings" and do a Reset.
5. Click OK
6. Relaunch the installer and/or software.
Important: Also make sure that the browser (IE) is up to date. If IE is version 8, make sure to update it to version 10 or 11 by having the customer run WINDOWS UPDATE.
To check the version of IE, launch the browser and click HELP > ABOUT INTERNET EXPLORER.
Also, I would suggest removing "Temp Files". Click the link below and follow the instruction:
http://howto.corel.com/en/c/How_to_remo ... tem_issues
> Restart your computer.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.

I have found that "Magix Photo Manager 16 " works ok with Google maps, but I would rather use PaintShop pro.

As an important footnote, I would add that this does NOT mean you have to use Internet Explorer. But keeping IE up to date, and resetting the Advanced Settings works to fix a number of other problems in Video Studio even when the users in those cases never used IE. I was one such user...mckinnell wrote:Corel Programs are very dependent to Internet Explorer. Here's a simple step to reset your I.E.

Re: PaintShop Pro 2018 Ultimate JavaScript (and other) Error
Hi mckinnell .
I had already done as you have advised, it was also recommended by Corel chat but it didn't work. But I am happy enough using Microsoft's photo programme just for gps positions although not for editing. I'm off to New Zealand for 5 weeks in a motorhome and it is always nice to have the positioning logged.
But I will keep trying to sort Paintshop pro maps script error probs.

Re: PaintShop Pro 2018 Ultimate JavaScript (and other) Error
Hello all. New here - came across the forum while searching for solutions to (many) issues with PSPX7. Same issue with map mode, lock up have to kill it with task manager. I have found a work around that I thought might benefit some of you. Although the prog recommends using IExplorer I changed the default to Firefox and at least it doesn't freeze and can navigate away without closing down using task manager. Also deleting the browser IExplorer to leave it blank stops it locking up. From the User Manual:

Re: PaintShop Pro 2018 Ultimate JavaScript (and other) Error
Just adding my own name to the customers interested in resolving this infuriating problem.
My own use of PSP is very elementary/minimalistic. I don't (knowingly) run any scripts etc and use it for the simplest of purposes, and this program error occurs immediately the program starts - thus making even the modest use I try to make more than problematic.
I note that like others I use Firefox as my default browser and note for the record that when this PSP error crops up there's an additional report that says
"You are using a browser that is not supported by the Google Maps Javascript API. Consider changing your browser" Unlikely as the tail should not wag the dog. (This error report is also problematic and cannot be dismissed.
If I capture the URL that triggers this (http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?v=3. ... uage=en-US) and feed it in to Internet Explorer, it asks to be allowed to run some Javascript, but then FAILS with a "Microsoft JScript runtime error" code 800A1391. That may imply that even if I tried to get Javascript working fine in Firefox (about which I have little or no knowledge etc), then as it fails in IE it may fail anyway.
HTH
