VideoStudio UX10 crashes on import most MP4

Post by PhilipFu »

Installed VS X10 on a cleam DELL notebook 4GB RAM...
VS starts okay, able to import some MOV and play, but not most MP4, even the sample MP4! WIll crash and closing VS.

Tested with some other format videos files, (all below files play properly on Windows MediaPlayer); here is the outcome:
Most MP4 by phone will crash VS
attached small.mp4 (remove .txt) will import and play (whats the diffecence on this MP4 will play?)
attached grb_2.mov (remove .txt) will crash VS
the sample SP-V01.mp4 will crash VS (!!!)
other AVI tested will import and play

At first I thought it will crash on ALL MP4 video, untill I download varies video format files and test one by one, where the attached small.mp4 video file will import and play with no crash.
There was some old thread/info about crashing on MP4 back in 2014 on VS X4. The two .dll files were too old and I didn't try on my X10.

I thought the crash are relate to something on the video or audio on those files.
Any advice are appreciated.

Thank you
Philip

Hi Philip

I have no problems in inserting those samples to CVSX10

Do you have QuickTime Codec installed, just the codec not the player

Hello Lata,
I have Quicktime player installed before post on forum, should that included QT codec? (I'm new to video...)

What puzzle me is the attached grb_2.mov, small.mp4 and even the CVS sample video SP-V01.mp4 video files, they all play properly on Windows Media Player but crash on CVSX10!
The moment I click on the SP-V01.mp4 file, CVS crashed say stops working, Windows will close the program...

I capture a video from the notebook camera and it play just fine.
I also tried those video files on the demo version of ProDranelin, it plays fine.

I install the CVSX10 from DVD, it download two updates, installation complete with no error.
I followed support advice to reinstall CVSX10 on a new admin-right user account, no help either.
I uploaded my Windows environment/config info to support. No new advice.

Any idea what i should check or missing on CVSX10?
Many THANKS.

Hi

Is your program Pro or Ultimate ?
I realise you have the disc version but to re-installed the program did you try downloading the Main Program.
From the wed Installer window we can choose a new Folder for Download files, then deselect Do Not Download Installed modules Files. That will download the current packages, I would try downloading the Main Program only.

Re-install the program using the new download files, you will have to run the web installer again.
If the program runs ok then Download the other available packages.

To uninstall Video Studio choose to remove personal data.
