Burn BR in 23.976P

can this be done yet? I dont want to burn my HD progressive video in interlaced format. previously trying to do so would try to force me to burn it in PAL. I absolutely dont want PAL.

As far as I can see DVD Moviefactory is a "dead" programme - there has been no development work on the programme for years -- best best would be to change to Videostudio which (with a very cheap plug-in from Corel) will burn a Blu-Ray disc

I do have videostudio however in the past it would not burn bluray in 23.976P. I changed the project properties to 23.976P and then chose Blu-Ray. It would then try to force me to burn it in PAL. Will videostudio now allow me to burn a blu-ray in 23.976P?

Unfortunately no

as far as I know Video Studio will not burn 23.97fps (24) to BD, as far as I know that is BD standard, neither will it burn 4K which again I believe is BD standard? Would need to check that.

im going to attempt 29.97P. I set it to 29.97P (frame based) in the project properties and then tried to burn a 29.97 BR and it didnt try to convert it during the burning process. I just hope that will work in a modern blu ray player. If that works now I just wish the menus werent a lower resolution than BR or DVD quality. I'll insert my own background in 1920x1080 or 720x480 and it will look very blocky. The text will look very blocky as well. I just dont know why the menu resolution is so low.

I am not sure regarding Bluray Disc Standards, as far as I know they have been updated.
However I think using progressive requires 1280 x 720 frame size 1920 x 1080 for interlaced.

You mentioned earlier that you did not want Pal at 25 fps, so why are you now using NTSC 29.97 fps

The program will only burn NTSC if the project properties are set for NTSC, you seem to say the program forces you to use 25fps, I would suspect that your settings are using Pal.

Even so DVD Movie Factory will not be updated by Corel.
Video Studio although supported by Corel does not fully support Bluray disc standards. Hmmm

The problem you had using Pal was covered in the above post, I don’t understand why you are having the same issues.

As far as I know Video Studio has a better authoring module than DVD Movie Factory

Your original video footage, what are the properties of your video files, are they recorded using Interlaced or Progressive?

Im using 29.97P bc Video Studio wont allow me to burn in 23.976P. Im using 29.97P bc when I burn the Blu-ray it leaves it in progressive and only converts the menus. I absolutely do not want to use interlaced if I can avoid it. ALso 29.97P is not a blu-ray standard yet video studio lets me burn in it.

It is a known issue that the program has tried to force you to burn in PAL for years if you choose project settings of NTSC 23.976P or 24P. I flipped out about it earlier in the year and lots of people told me I should be using professional software instead of this but making excuses for a critical problem thats very easy to fix isnt going to force video studio to fix it. I would by professional software but there isnt any that lets me ad music and custom backgrounds that I make myself. Thats why Im stuck with video studio.

Im absolutely not trying to burn in PAL. Everything says Im using NTSC 23.976P but then when I try to burn it it forces PAL.

The original footage is 23.976P. When I select project properties and change it to 23.976P then go to share and select blu-ray it wont let me burn it in 23.976P. When I select 29.97P (frame based) in project properties and then go to share and select blu-ray and burn it does not convert title and starts converting menus. This is why Im burning my 23.976P footage in 29.97P. because it will leave it in progressive. I would prefer it remain 23.976P but if I can avoid interlaced then thats what I will settle for 29.97P as long as there is no ghosting in my footage.

First I did not realise that the program forces the NTSC video to burn to Pal settings, I guess being in the UK and using pal I would not have noticed.
I do not know of any other posts that have reported that?

As far as I know Video Studio will not burn a disc using 1920 x 1080 x 29.97 Progressive it has to be Interlaced.

I will do some tests, but the last time I tried I successfully burnt using 23.974 fps progressive, maybe that was using 1280 x 720 frame size.
When I say burnt I mean creating an Image Folder BDMV, I can then view the files within the Stream folder to check their properties.

Can you confirm that when you do Share Disc Bluray that the timelines are empty and that you add the video files after opening the burner module.

With project settings set to 29.97P (frame based) it did allow me to create a blu ray using 23.976P files. It did not convert title and went straight to converting menus. Which is odd bc the files did not match the project settings.

I tried the create folders method last time and I think it wouldnt play my blu-ray in my blu-ray player however burning 23.976P in 29.97P did play in my blu-ray player which is from 2011.

I opened the blu-ray I burned using 29.97P project settings and the files all say they are 23.976P when I open the disc in a file system and right click the individual files and go to properties.

Im just happy something worked even if it was tricked into doing it. I geuss if anyone is trying to burn 23.976P just tell them they need to set their project settings to 29.97P frame based.

Now if only I could get the text in the menus to look better the menus dont match the resolution of the disc format sadly

The blu-ray WILL NOT play on my computer using VLC or Windows media player for some reason but Im just happy its working on a home theater blu-ray player.

Using NTSC settings I now see the conversion are using Pal, however we should not be using those, but still unusual / wrong?

9 / Add my video file using 23.976 fps
10/ used default menu
11/ select to create Blu-ray folder
12 / process starts with convert menu, it would have been wrong if it had started with convert title.
13/ I viewed the video file within the BDMV – Stream as having 23.976fps. as below.

Trevor -- I wonder if all this has something to do with that box in the Burn Module Options which says "Do not convert compliant MPEG files". The 23.976/24 fps video is compliant MPEG in terms of the international DVD and BD standards. So regardless of whatever the project settings will or will not allow, if you insert 24 fps video into the Burn module, and that box is ticked, MF and VS will ignore any other settings and burning the compliant files to disc without further conversion. However, they will of course burn the menus using the other settings, and I can't help there.

Yes Ken that is correct, how I understand it

I did not realise there was a problem for NTSC using Pal settings, I would not notice as I always use Pal.
If the project properties are set to a compliant NTSC video then the Pal Menu issue does not occur.
We cannot set 24 fps via Show Messages so that part does not see the properties as compliant, but use the same video to bun a disc and no further conversion, the disc burns as 24 fps.

We can burn any Compliant video although not automatically from the timeline, that will cause the render (Convert Title) and if NTSC users have manually set Project Properties to 24 fps to match their video then the entire disc will be converted to pal. I will have to think about the consequences of that last statement.

I found out why it wont play.

Yes the 23.976P files are indeed 23.976P HOWEVER....the menu files and previews are...25fps . That stops it from playing or loading all together.

I assume you are first converting the project to your output file using 23.976fps.
Then opening the burner module with the timelines empty? adding the video directly to the burner module.

I didnt see your edited reply but I had said above that setting it to 29.97P frame based will let me burn it at 23.976P. I guess it makes the menus 29.97i which is fine. My last reply was to your reply to me about it working for you b4 I saw your edits to it when setting the project properties to 23.976P
