MF4 6CH audio Encoding?

Post by Jibreil »

Hello,

I have a AVI movie with AC3 6CH audio. I planning to use MF4: Disc Creator Edition to convert it to DVD format with 6CH Dolby Digital Audio. Please tell me if MF4 supports 6CH Dolby Digital or Only Dolby Digital Stereo?

Do I need to download plugins to enable this it's just not possible?

Thanks in advance :)

MF4 only encodes 2-channel Dolby Digital Audio.

I think if you have a compliant source video with 5.1 DD, you can author it and the 5.1 DD will carry through to the output -- as long as you don't modify it within MF4.

Ulead seem to define their Dolby Digital as 5 channel, as indicated in the following Q & A from their website FAQ's
Q: What is Dolby® Digital? What's the benefit of using it?
A: Dolby® Digital is a five-channel surround-sound system. It allows you to enjoy smaller audio file sizes than offered by MP3 audio files with much higher sound quality and more video on your discs.
Haven't check it out on my own DVD's though.

Look at the Comparison chart under Capture / Import / Encode

When they say "Dolby® Digital (AC-3) Stereo audio encoding", they mean 2-channel Encoding.

Yes, my Video source has 5.1 Dolby Digital audio. But, are you sure MF4 will NOT mofigy or re-encode the audio during the Authoring process to 2 channel Dolby Digital?

When I click on MPEG Setting... it tell me 2 CH audio, that's why Im worried.

Can you please post how you got the movie into divx format and there
may be a solution to the audio problem.

Did you convert the movie? How? What program?
Is it a downloaded movie?
