PSPU 2018 -
Why are scripts saved to C:\Users\[user name]\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\2018\Scripts-Restricted and Scripts-Trusted when the Scripts tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... 8ixdy2YPEM (albeit, earlier PSP version) says they should be in C:\Users\[user name]\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\2018\Scripts-Restricted and Scripts-Trusted, those folders were created AND they can't be found [navigated] from the program.
a) Is C:\Users\[user name]\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\ used at all?
b) What shall I do?
HELP!
Tnx,

Re: Scritps not found - saved to Program Files Corel ....
I don't know what your point is to be honest. All of those Corel sub-folders in C:\User\UserName, etc are simply folders created so that you can save downloaded and/or created scripts in those folders because they will not be deleted if you uninstall PSP, while the scripts and other resources that appear in other Corel folders and subfolders are resources that come with PSP and will be deleted if you uninstall PSP.
You don't have to save created/downloaded scripts or other resources in User documents. You can create a folder on any drive you want with any name you want (for example, My PSP Files to indicate they are separate from the files that came with the program) and then create various subfolders there - like Scripts-Trusted, Scripts-Restricted, Picture Tube, Picture Frames, etc and save your downloaded/created scripts there. You just have to make sure to point PSP to you My PSP Files folder to allow the program to access them.
So yes, those folders are used if you want to use them to store your downloaded or created resources, and are the default folders used by most save dialogues when you are saving resources you create. So the path to them is also automatically created in the Preferences>File Location for all of the resources for which you can create custom resources so that you don't have to add the path to them. And if you uninstall PSP and then reinstall it, or install a different version, those resources you saved in the User documents will still be there and automatically available for the reinstalled version. But you don't have to use them if you don't want to.

Re: Scritps not found - saved to Program Files Corel ....
Joe,
Firstly, thanks for the quick reply.
Please play the Scripts tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... 8ixdy2YPEM from 38 sec to 1 min 30 sec ... and you'll understand why I was confused ... especially when I was trying to follow every step in my PSPU installation on my an image I have. I realized that I might not have the script he was using as his example but I SURLY expected to see some scripts on HD under the My documents hierarchy, 1a., below. Nope, nothing was there!
Preferences, File Locations, Scripts list the following locations:
a. C:\Users\[user name]\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\2018\Scripts-Restricted and Scripts-Trusted
b. C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2018 (64-bit)\Languages\EN\Scripts-Restricted and Scripts-Trusted
c. C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2018 (64-bit)\Content\Scripts-Restricted and Scripts-Trusted
The default is not under My Documents, but rather any of the 3 paths I show above as those were included during installation. I did not check Preferences, File Locations, Scripts before asking the question but I still have questions if you would not mind answering.
Do not get the wrong impression. I am loving this program. It will really expand my horizons. As a long time user of Pinnacle Studio Ultimate (now with Ver 21), I see PSPU output feeding into PSU and of course improving images prior to printing with Qimage (DDI Software) that I really believe in and have used for many years.
Also, I see how easy it is to select scripts from both the File menu and the Scripts tool bar ... that I now realize uses the File locations set in Preferences to present all scripts. I am seeing the light! tnx!
At this time, I just need to understand why the Navigation panel Search feature did not seem to work as I expected. Please clarify after reading Q1, below.
Q1. Please tell me how to use the Navigation panel to find scripts. And do it without first drilling down to expose the very folder where we might have found them other ways. In other words, I was expecting that when I enter "Scripts" or ".PspScript" in the Navigation text box, press {ENTER} it would present the folder or expose all Scripts. Even when I did Browse to where i know they are, they do not appear in the Navigation panel???
Q2. Incidentally, folder: "Content" as shown at 1c, above does not exist. Any idea why it was included in default installation?
Tnx,
Ira

Re: Scritps not found - saved to Program Files Corel ....
Q1: You can't use the navigation panel to find scripts. That's not what it's designed for. The navigation panel is used to find images in the Organizer palette. Scripts are found automatically by PSP in the folders listed under the File Locations and are placed automatically in the scripts toolbar under the drop down. If you've properly added a script to one of the valid scripts-restricted or scripts-trusted folders you should see the script listed in the script drop down on the script toolbar.
Q2: If I had to guess it's a mistake on Corel's part. An extra location added into the code by accident or for testing that was never removed. Since it doesn't break anything it's really unimportant and easily missed.

Re: Scritps not found - saved to Program Files Corel ....
Hi Levi and Joe and and ...
You guys are very helpful and quick on the draw! Much appreciated! Really!
A1 - Navigation - sure that makes sense. Not for internal file structure components.
A2. Ok on the non-existent folder in File locations. I might delete it ... so it PSP won't spend anoth usec looking for anything where it does not exist (yet).
Funny that after writing my reply I got into scripts, realizing how easy it was to access them. Actually, years ago, I wrote them for other applications. I might do it for this one when I learn a bit more. I'm really digging in. Again between PSPU and PSU (that other Corel product they bought a few yrs ago), and Qimage, I don't need a bucket list!
Thanks again,
Ira
