A technique I forgot how to do
I just registered and I need a bit of a refresher on a technique that I used to know how to do.
I am using the picture tube tool and I want my tube to follow a pre-formed path. Say I have a circle. I have my scale set right and my size set right. How do I get the picture tubes to follow the arc of the circle?
Hope you can help.
Thanks

Thank you for the reply. I went to that website and it seems they want you to pay for classes to get instructions. What I want to do is follow a vector path but I am always prompted to change to a raster. Sigh

Re: A technique I forgot how to do
Looks like the only way to do this is with a script. I downloaded a free one and it doesn't work.
Thanks

Re: A technique I forgot how to do
Since your post, I have been trying to use that script (which used to work very well) but have not got anywhere.
Likely something to do with the PSP versions changing over the years.

Later Edit:
Maybe this one will help, it's 'Convert to path' that does the trick!

Still not the easiest but I got it to work. Happy experimenting

Even later edit:
Try this:
Materials Palette>Foreground+Stroke Properties:Black
Background+Fill Properties: Nil
Q to draw a circle>
i on the keyboard to select suitable Picture Tube, make smaller if needed.
V on the keyboard for the Pen Tool>Right-Click on the top node of the circle>Convert to Path
Run the Vector Tube script.
Any tweaking:
i to access the Picture Tubes to change the size or get another Tube
Highlight the new ellipse Layer in the Layers Palette>V for Pen Tool>run the script again.
Repeat for more tweaking.
When happy, get rid of the circle: click on the eye of the layer to make it invisible.
Merge.

Wow, I'd love to use that one but when I click on the link I get the error message Error: Your request of "pixelnook.home.comcast.net" was not found on redirect platform. Any way to get past this?

Got it downloaded and it works! Thanks a bunch.

In my PSP X6 it only works with the pen tool, though, not the ellipse or the others.

Re: A technique I forgot how to do
With Ellipses and others you need to use the "Convert To Path" command before running the script. The script uses the node and path information to draw the stroke, it doesn't actually follow the path, but re-calculates it and tries to simulate it as accurately as possible. Only regular paths, like those drawn with the pen tool, return the necessary information for the script to do this. And VectorTube only converts text objects to regular paths, none of the others.
His later script VectorStroke (linked to above) changed this need by doing all of the conversions for you. It also uses any brush or tube. I personally recommend using VectorStroke over VectorTube as it takes care of a lot more situations.
