So I've done tons of vids over the years and thought I would try something new... A friend gave me an old Epson projector and thought I would give a whirl at mapping a video onto fixed objects on a stage. Have just been kind of fiddling with it and the first thing I noticed off the bat I'm going to need some 3D based software to work between VS.. ..So far I've found it's pretty easy to map a few simple objects through VS but when doing many, manually placing videos, skewing, scaling & placing is going to get real busy, real quick...
Has anyone here ever done Projection Mapping utilizing VS?
If so, I could use some, insight & enlightenment...
Projection Mapping ...anyone here ever tried?

you need to be more descriptive.
VS is for editing, so what this and projection, that have elements of distance and focus ?

Re: Projection Mapping ...anyone here ever tried?
This is not mine but you'll see sort of what I'm getting at...

So yeah while it would quite an editing task as I could see where there would be many smaller movies (depending on intricacy) and then building & layering the smaller bits together until reaching a final video and then projecting it onto, whatever.
And like I said, I've never done anything like this & looks intriguing. And I can see where VS would play a pretty big role in the final production. And kind of why I asked if anyone here has any kind of experience doing something like this.
I'll actually know a little more next week as I'm waiting for the replacement lamp for the projector to arrive. So as soon as I can goof around a little maybe I'll put up a simple video...

Well so here's where I'm getting at anyway... New bulb arrived, installed it (took 2 mins) fired up & went to super size.... Lights aside, all of the projection was done on VS8...

As far as dedicated Projection mapping software goes, I'm on the fence between Resolume Avenue & HeaveyM Live. All of these can easily spit out movies which I could then mesh back into VS for further editing for shows.
QUESTION: Does anyone know if VS can be used with Syphon (or Sprout) streaming?

So yeah, HeavyM works quite nicely for pre & post-production & VS8 & 9 : )

So... Here's my result...
All of the vid in the background was all built between Corel VideoStudio (X8). Painter '15, Draw X8... And then fed into HeavyM.

I guess the light/laser beams, and the smoke is not part of the VSX8 work, so if you want our comments please show us what is relevant.
Years ago as part of an art thing I commissioned to do, I projected life size people praying, on a wall made of crushed recycle aluminum block and did it in XP's movie maker.

Re: Projection Mapping ...anyone here ever tried?
Here's the isolated movie done in VS8
https://youtu.be/ATWYrELWBPM
...I keep having to work in VS8 as every time I work with 9 (9.5) it has a knack of failing, crashing, freezing (etc) constantly during editing & when you have to go back and start over a dozen time gets really irritating. VS8 has always been 100x more stable (for me anyway). About a year or so ago I want back & forth with Corel Support and they tried to find what the issue was & after about 3 months of them not being able to find out why it was doing it on a pair of matched Dell XPS i7 machines, I just kinda gave up & went back to 8.
The other images & objects that you see that are in the final test video (lights aside) is done using HeavyM mapping software, it's pretty simple & straight forward to use. And since I am a sound/lighting engineer for a handful of bands that are constantly asking me to bring a few of their shows to different level so, I figured I would just see how a few simple tests go. And since these are paid jobs, all i can do is try & hopefully, raise my rates : )...

You misunderstand me,
You need to show us what is the Projection Mapping in your video.
I don't feel any excitement like you do.
