Just bought and downloaded VideoStudio Pro X10 (1.4GB) from my office.
I got a link to download the programs including other 'Free' ones.
Now, at home, I need to install this program without re-downloading the software again. There is no option.
As Trial, I have two buttons: "Back" or "Download / Install" and with installation location on my "C" drive.
As with the product key, three buttons: "Back", "Download Only" & "Download / Install" with asking "Please choose a folder for the downloaded files".
I have the downloaded files from the link Corel gave me, the whole 1.4GB size file. Why would I need to download it again?
I really would have like to write this files on a DVD as bootable file and keep in a safe place. With this, I can't.
What am I doing wrong?

Hi
Make sure that your original downloaded files are in your folder, including the Installer file (10Mb ish)
The one you selected on your E:\Software 1\Corel etc.
When you choose Download / Install the web Installer will “Verify” your files and if correct will continue to install the program without any further download.

Re: How To Install Without Re-Downloading Again
It will not let me install the downloaded file without internet connection, even after Product Key verification.

For some reason, it installed. I looked at the Corel folder in the "C" drive, and it was there.
So for now, all is fine unless I encounter something else. Though it won't let me update from the app.
Will try to download the update separately.
This is one of my strangest installations so far.
Thank you for your input.

Why are you shutting down the internet connection?
Your 2nd image from above doesn't make any sense. There are no locations shown in that image.
Your images show that nothing has been installed.

Re: How To Install Without Re-Downloading Again
Hi
It is true that we need an internet connection to run and install the Main program, you did not ask that in your first post?
But if your files have already been downloaded the process will check that by “verify”, I mentioned this in my first reply.
Then install the program from the existing files without downloading again.
The latest version number is X10.5.0.60
I suspect you will be running this version especially if Check for Updates shows No Updates Available.
I would advise not installing service packs manually.

Re: How To Install Without Re-Downloading Again
This topic is a hot subject that's been discussed consistently this year, ever since the latest stub installer was released. And especially, how to re-install from a previously saved download. Note that the last thing a download and install says before closing is "save this download for future use". The forums are probably tired of hearing me harp on this, but I challenged anyone to outline how a re-install from saved download would happen. It really is important.
So far, no one especially the admins, has responded to that.
But part of the answer is here - you need to have an internet connection just to do the main program - says Trevor. No disrespect Trevor, but for the love of little ducks, why? Supposedly all that's needed is in those saved files, and Corel went to some length last year to remove a damaging situation with X9 which stopped program start if the welcome page (the Corel shop site) was off-line - and I really see this install situation with X10 as in the same category. In prior versions, VS could be re-installed from a saved downloaded self-extracting file - without any internet connection needed. As often as required. And it worked on-line and off-line.
The stub approach adopted by Corel for X10 in this last year has screwed that properly. And so we have a situation where you can't install (download and install later eg next day), or re-install, from a downloaded and saved folder of files if there's no internet available.

Re: How To Install Without Re-Downloading Again
Hi
I can only assume the reason for requiring internet connection is to combat piracy.
Having to input your serial number could be checked against the Corel server as well as checking details on your pc.
Running the program for the first time may also require an internet connection to register, although it was possible to ignore the registration process by choosing activate later, that may also have changed.
Once we have installed the main program (Web Installer required) We can install any other packages manually, Contents, Bonus Features can be installed without internet connection.
Although using the web installer is convenient to install all in one go.
I would advise that if you do manually install the additional packs that you run the program after each install.
Downloading the program
That can be done at any time, as many times as you like.
Earlier versions and you were stuffed if you lost the installation files, contact Corel Support, lucky if they provided a new download link?
Using X9 onwards we can still download the program using the appropriate stub and serial number.
Download files saved to the hard drive can be re-installed at any time without further download, but if a newer version is available, say X10 to X10.5, then the appropriate /additional files will be downloaded.
The web Installer route is relatively new and I can only assume like new programs will be updated
Indeed X10 saw a few versions of the web installer.
Unfortunately they sometimes they do get it wrong, what would we give for a perfect world............

Re: How To Install Without Re-Downloading Again
Downloading 5Gb+ of compressed files using a browser on average broadband links became very iffy; download times of hours really did not sit well with most browsers and many interrupted links occurred. I critiqued that several times. An alternative using an FTP download worked . . . for me, but apparently not for many. So a rationale for something new - a stub - to do download reliably existed. Not a new approach either - quite a few software vendors have taken that route.
Why Corel didn't just use a stub to just do download and avoid these other issues they have created seems inexplicable - everything else using the older method worked fine.
But, no - fix one problem, try to finesse it and we have more and new problems.
As for
- backup: save the downloaded self-extracting file and burn a disk of it/them immediately. Anyone who did not do that was asking for trouble. And a new install could be done from it, no net connection needed.
- anti-piracy: the old way did that when the first thing the executing self-extracting file installer did was ask for the license key. No internet connection needed. Installation progress from then - went fine, at the end - register.
