Eye Candy Glass and Chrome Effect Alternative ?
I can't install the Eye Candy Plugin on my computer. (I'm assuming its not compatible since no matter what I do it won't install.) But my question is if you find a tutorial that says you need the plugin but you can't use it isn't there an alternative way to get the same two effects ?. Thank you so much for your help.

Re: Eye Candy Glass and Chrome Effect Alternative ?
First, can I ask which version of PSP you are looking to find Eye Candy on: the 32 bit or 64 bit version? I ask since Eye Candy (at least my version of it) is many years old and comes in a 32 bit version. So it will only show up under the 32 bit version of PSP. That's one of the reasons it is recommended to install both 32 and 64 bit versions of PSP.
Or if that is not the answer, do you get any error messages when you try to install Eye Candy?

Sorry...I keep forgetting to put which version I have. lol. It's PSP X9 in the 32 and 64 bit versions. Eye candy won't show up in either one on my computer no matter what I do.

Is Alien Skin installed in your C drive, Program Files and C drive, Programs (x86) in a folder called Alien Skin? If so, is that where you have pointed PSP File Locations to?

You should edit your profile and fill in the information about the Corel products you are using. Then you won't have to remember.gagejennifer wrote:Sorry...I keep forgetting to put which version I have. lol. It's PSP X9 in the 32 and 64 bit versions.

My computer is a 64 bit. No I didn't see the Alien Skin Software folder in the computer. I've tried to install the newest version of EC (7) and a previous version of it (3) and it will not install. I assumed when it wouldn't show up that it wasn't compatible with my computer.

Re: Eye Candy Glass and Chrome Effect Alternative ?
It doesn't matter if you your computer is 64bit. It will run both the 32bit and 64bit versions of PSP and any other program. For troubleshooting purposes we need to know the version of PSP that you are having using. Putting that information in your profile will mean people don't have to post replies to you requesting that information. There are also fields in the profile where you can provide more information about your specific computer if you know it.gagejennifer wrote:My computer is a 64 bit.
Most of us don't have any trouble installing Eye Candy. Could you tell us exactly what happens when you try to install it? At what stage of the installation does it fail? Do you get any dialogue windows that say anything about the plugin not being able to install? Usually when installing software it starts with an information window about the installation and requesting that you agree to the terms of the licence. Once you agree then you get buttons like OK, or Install, etc., and sometimes once you start them you get windows showing the installation progress. Knowing what windows you see or don't see could help us to troubleshoot your problems.gagejennifer wrote: No I didn't see the Alien Skin Software folder in the computer. Re: Eye Candy Glass and Chrome Effect Alternative ?
When I look at my profile it shows all my information in it. (It does when I look at it) Its strange no one else can see it. I've tried to install two different versions of Eye Candy (3 and 7) and it just doesn't appear any where on the computer at all. And I tried again to install Eye Candy 3.1 just now and it still isn't showing up no matter which folder I put it in. I'm not sure what the problem is. But I do appreciate any and all help. Thank you.

Re: Eye Candy Glass and Chrome Effect Alternative ?
You still haven't answered any of the questions I asked in my previous post. You haven't told us whether an installation window appears when trying to install Eye Candy, and if it does whether you agree to the terms of use and can move to the next screen, and any other windows that appear if any do during installation attempts. Does it freeze trying to install, or does it actually complete and given you a message that it has installed but you just can't find it on your computer? Do it start to install but - somewhere along the line - ask for a license code and, if so, do you enter it properly? You really have to provide the details requested if you really want any and all help, otherwise we will not be able to help you.gagejennifer wrote:When I look at my profile it shows all my information in it. Also, if you do get some windows trying to install the plugin, then one of them will show the default path (drive, folder, etc.) where it plans to install the software. It might even show any programs it plans to install the plugins in. Do you get any stuff like that? If so, what drive, folder does it say it plans to install the software.
Also, where did you get the installation file for Eye Candy 7? Did you download it from the Alien Skin site? Is it a disc you received from them? Is it a file you have stored on your computer or on your own backup discs? In any case, exactly what is the FULL name of that file, including the extension after the period (dot).
In other words, we need ALL of the steps - in detail - that you take when trying to install Eye Candy 7 (which is the one you should try with) as well as everything that happens during your installation attempts. There are so many variables that can cause the issue that, without that information, there's really nothing we can do. So far you've done the equivalent of telling a mechanic your car doesn't work but without providing him with either the car for him to examine or any information on what you mean by "doesn't work" but still asking him to come up with a fix.
As for your profile, I am attaching the bottom portion of my Profile page, taken from the Profile tab of the User Control panel. You'll see the information in that attachment is the same as that shown in my profile info to the right of my posts. When you fill in those boxes do you also make sure to click the Submit button on the bottom? If you have filled in the information and it isn't showing then Ken Berry should be able to fix that for you.

Re: Eye Candy Glass and Chrome Effect Alternative ?
Just to intervene briefly here, Jennifer has no further information listed in her Profile on our database than appears onscreen under her avatar... So yes, it would be useful if she could fill that out or at least type the information in her next post and I can insert it in our database for her.

Re: Eye Candy Glass and Chrome Effect Alternative ?
I updated my profile to the best of my ability. I bought Paint Shop Pro x9 from Amazon. When I installed it it installed both the 32 and 64 bit versions. I honestly can't remember where I got the link to install the Eye Candy program. But yes an Installation Wizard did appear once when I tried to install it. But it didn't appear again when I tried it again. I'm running on Windows 10. I managed to get most of the plugins to work. As I said I just assumed the Eye Candy one wasn't compatible with mine for what ever reason when it wouldn't install. I couldn't find a link any longer on the Alien Skin website for EC 3. It has the newest version (7) in there now. I can't install that one either. I"ve ran a virus scan and no viruses found.

Re: Eye Candy Glass and Chrome Effect Alternative ?
Thank you again for your help. Since my last post I was able to go and find a working EC3 file that was able to install the program successfully. It seems to be working right now. Thank you
