PSP losing ability?

Post by jcrous »

Every time I have installed a plugin and I directed the locations to the location directory, None of the menus work after I clicked on OK.
A hard restart with Windows task manager is the only option.

Which Plugin as there are plug ins and plugins so that statement does not really help. Location and location directory. Where are you placing the plug ins. What locations?
Which version of PSP and do you have other versions of PSP? Does the same problem occur with those as well?

It only occurred with PSP 2018.

I installed Redfield Sharplet, Face Control
Google Nik plugins
Alienskin Eye Candy 7
3D Shadow

All were installed for Photoshop CS6 64 and linked to from PSP 2018 64.

All of them work perfectly in PSP, but I had to hard restart PSP.

Interesting. I installed the Google Nik software to Documents and linked to it there from PSP2018 32 bit and it only works from the 32 bit and not PSP 2018 64 bit where it is not visible.
Are you getting the Nik operating from the 64 bit version of PSP 2018?
I don't have the other plugins, but perhaps by naming them some others may be able to state their experience.

I have Nik Collection installed. I believe I just let it install where it wanted to - which is generally the best choice - and it shows up in Program Files>Google>Nik Collection. I have both 32bit and 64bit versions of PSP2018 pointed to that folder and the plugins work in both versions (that Nik folder contains both the 32 and 64bit plugins).

I'm not quite sure what you mean overall. It looks like you're saying that these plugins do work with PSP for you. But I don't understand the part about having to hard restart PSP. Do you mean that running the plugins caused PSP to crash and you had to use Task Manager to close it? If so then when did they start working without causing a crash - or do they work now?

Of the plugins you mention I have Eye Candy 7 and Nik Collection installed. They work with both my 32bit and 64bit versions of PSP2018.

Hi Joe,
I stand corrected. Thanks for that. Was so used to changes made in 32 bit version being carried over to 64 bit version . Have now pointed 64 bit version to Nik and have them available in both 32 and 64 bit versions of PSP 2018.

The plugins work fine. It is PSP hanging after I pointed to the plugins in preferences.
I cannot even restart PSP.
After a forced restart PSP is fine until the next plugin install. I do not install that many that it will be a problem. It is probably just a memory error.
