Image has too much grey space

Post by Loopy »

Sorry didn't know exactly how to give this a title.
I'm using PSP 2018. When I crop an image it leaves a whole lot of grey space around the picture. If I take it down to only seeing the picture then I get scrollbars which I don't want.
In all the previous versions, when I crop I don't have that. It crops right to the size of the picture and the rulers are accurate.

I've attached 2 pictures. The one called 'Capture' is how it looks on 2018 and 'Capture2' is how it looks on previous versions.

Thanks for any help. I have checked in preferences but don't see anything there.

This is a new "feature" of the crop tool hated by most people and asked for by very few. Choose another tool and roll the scroll wheel and the grey area should disappear. It is not part of the image.

I'm probably one of the few who don't mind this result when cropping.

That grey space is just the area outside of the actual image. I usually like having that grey space and will actually stretch my window to show that grey space because sometimes I will miss some spots at the edge of the image.

I HATE it with a vengeance! COREL - what were you thinking of? At least make it optional!

I totally agree with Aitch.
I HATE it so much that I have stopped using PSP2018 and now only use PSPX9.
I currently consider PSP2018 as broken.

I - and perhaps others - have added (to the Wishlist for PSP 2019 topic at the top) that we at least want an option with that inconvenient Crop tool so that we can get it to work the way it used to. If you both add your desire then perhaps the increasing number of people complaining in that thread might get Corel's attention enough that they will do something about it. One can always hope!
