Post by karebai »

Apologies if this has been covered, had a quick look and found nothing ...

Running win10 pro, X9 behaving fine, then CU finally arrived and installed - now X9 will not open??

TIA for any help/suggestions.

I don't use WIN 10 so just asking: Can you uninstall the CU update? If so, you might still have to do a reinstall of PSP.

FWIW, the Creators Update did not affect any of my apps, PSP X7, X8, X9 and 2018 included. And we don't seem to have received a similar complaint from other users, many of whom would by now also have installed the Creators Update to their Win 10.

Uninstalling the CU will not achieve much, Joe, since it will appear again, and probably install again at the designated install time if the computer is left running.

I would first have tried resetting PSP (hold down the Shift key when clicking the desktop icon). If that did not work, I would then uninstall PSP using the clen-up tool in the sticky post at the top of this forum, then reinstall.

I was afraid of that. One of the reasons I've stuck with WIN 8.1 is that there are no forced updates that might disrupt something. While the CU update might not have been the culprit, various forced WIN10 updates have been the culprit for causing various incompatibility issues with some programs and/or drivers for other users, although often those issues can, as you suggested, be cleared up by clean reinstalls of the affected programs or, if a driver issue, getting the latest driver - assuming one is available. :-)
