How use 2 vids to show me on both sides of car at same time?

Post by 56_kruiser »

I saw a video once, but lost track of it, showing how in Videostudio to have the person speaking sitting on one side of a desk talking to himself on the other side. It involved doing both, separating to 2 videos, having been recorded on a tripod so that all else was inanimate. The one on the second row had to be sized to the same size as the one on top.

I'm trying to do that. I thought that dropping one under the other, and resizing it to the same and then only me at booth locations would show up. But it is only rendering as one video or the other.

Any suggestions on how to do this?

I found a video on it once I used the right search terms. It involves cropping each video. This requires that I am in one general area each time. For instance, in the video I found, he was sitting across from himself...so each video was cropped to each side of a desk.

I'm out of luck, I believe, as that I was moving around on the one I wanted to do, and I believe I moved into what would need to be the cropped area. For example makeing it look like there were 3 of me making a bed, I'd be moving in front of myself from the point of the camera.

JFYI...

I am playing with a quick video of in fact making the bed. Split it for me to be on each side.

So I am trying track transparency. Not working out as I would expect. I can split both at 50%, then a couple ghosts are making the bed. But if I take it up to say 75% or 90%, it will show one pretty opaque, and the other VERY ghosted. Looks almost like one is set to 100% and the other to 10%.

This sounds like a gripps2211's tutorial on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/user/gripps2211

Hi
Have you tried using the mask creator to delete half of the video.
Place each video in overlay tracks 1 & 2
How you approach this really depends on the content of your videos

Not knowing exactly what your original videos look like it's difficult to give precise instructions

This video is made by combining two videos - is it a start to what you want to do ?

While it was being made we discussed techniques in this topic here

I appreciate the input. I've been away for a bit.

I think my problem is that I don't have myself in 2 different places constantly. I'm moving, and so would cross into the same area as the other, which pretty much negates the idea, I believe.

Well yes you have to do the filming with the knowledge that you want to split the screen and in each clip you need to keep out of the space occupied by the other person - OR - film one of the clips against a green or blue screen and use Chroma key to add the second person - but again unless you film very carefully you can and up with you walking "through" yourself onscreen
