I tested my SVCD on three DVD players (worked great) before generating 30 copies for the choir. My fail rate on other DVD players is now running at 100%. They have all kinds of DVD players many of them new, and none are working. I recalled the disks and they continue to play on mine. I noticed there are different settings in Preferences for SVCD output. Is there one that will give me a better success rate without turning all my photos into poor quality output? They can't play the output on their PCs either -- although I've told them how to navigate to the video files on the disk. Do they need a special version of Media Player to "recognize this codec." What a disappointment. All your other products have lived up to their promises.
I am getting a DVD recorder (LaCie) and have ordered quality media. Will this solve my problem? I read in this forum that even if you go to the expense of generating a DVD, it may not play on all players.
Can you explain the SVCD Output Options?

SVCD is a different video format. Not all DVD Players support SVCD. You have to check first. However, there should be no problems playing SVCD discs on your computer. You just have to find the *.dat file on the cd and play you should be able to open and play it with Windows Media Player. SVCD uses MPEG2 compression just like DVD but is still a bit less in quality.

?? Why you only getting 'quality media' ??
I am in the storage business and we are making good buisness replacing that brand you mention - not at our instigation - at customers requests who bought them elswhere.
Tip
Whenever you do a new burn. a first burn, change pamameters etc etc - only do 1-2 copies and test them wherever a you can - Friends, neighbours, shops and DON"T test on PC's.
Pity about the 30 copies though - you can have one-a-day to hang from the rear-view mirror
