Create DVD out of one section of a longer video
In VS Pro Ultimate X10 is there a way to run a DVD of just one scene from a longer video?

Yes it's possible. How easy it might be could be another question, depending on what format the longer video has and how it is stored, and you don't tell us that. Is it already a longer DVD? If so you would need to use 'Import from digital media' in VS to bring the video into your computer where you can cut out the bits you don't want and apply any other edits before making the new DVD.
If the video is just in video form and not burnt to disc, then simply insert the longer video into VS and cut and edit it, then produce the new DVD...

Re: Create DVD out of one section of a longer video
Sorry, Ken, I wasn't clear. I am in the middle of editing a home video in Corel. I wanted to lift out a section to save to a DVD before I finish editing the rest of the video. Also, in Boris I created a title that bursts into smoke, but when I play it in my timeline, it never plays all the way through. It makes it hard to judge whether something works when you can't watch it in real time. I know it will render when I save the finished video, but I'd like to see it before then. Thanks!

What do you mean by "save to a DVD"? Do you want to create a video DVD playable on a DVD player or do simply want to "save" the video to a DVD as a data file?
Those are two completely different operations.
Also, it would be best if you put your "Boris" question in a separate thread

Re: Create DVD out of one section of a longer video
I want to lift out a section I have edited in Corel and finish it to a DVD that is playable as a movie on a DVD player. The section has a music track, overlay tracks, and efx, so it's more involved than just lifting out the video. I then want to be able to finish out the video (with this section included) that I am editing in Corel.
I will post the Boris question in a different thread.

Re: Create DVD out of one section of a longer video
Hi
We can select a section of our project, known as the Preview Range.
With the project open and in project playback, the word Project being highlighted.
Position the curser (timeline position indicator) to the start of your selection, press F3 (Mark in), notice the orange line at the top of timelines
Now position curser to the end of your selection, press F4 ( mark out)
The orange line indicates the project range
From Share there is an option to render project range, that will create a video file of that selection.
Ok
If you wish to create a dvd of that video you should choose Mpeg2 as the render option.
Read the user guide regarding project range.

Re: Create DVD out of one section of a longer video
That works great! Thank you so much Trevor. That also solves another issue I was having. I had rendered an efx in Boris that wouldn't play real time and this will allow me to render it and see if it's working. Thanks again!
