The things I usually forget to mention: I use X9 64 bit ultimate and whenever I need to make a disk I have already forgotten what I learnt before or they change the interface in newer versions.
I have a video from a Canon 7D mk2 and added a mpg3 audio file. I have made a DVD for a computer without any problems but they want to show it on their DVD player and show it on their TV.
How do I know which files are unlinked or unreadable? The DVD plays fine on a computer.
I read some of the topics and at least one looks pretty close - but I would like to know what is happening and why.
Nice to read the amazing explanations from Ken Berry - the reason I have a decent tripod.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Making DVD unlinked or unreadable files
How do you know that ANY files are unlinked or unreadable . if you get a message during editing then the message will tell you which files are unlinked
did you make your original project with your camera plugged in , did you actually transfer videos from camera to hard disc or just use what you saw.
What error messages are you getting regarding unlinked or unreadable files.

Re: Making DVD unlinked or unreadable files
Sorry for the delay - I have no idea if VS X9 Ultimate can use mpg3 audio files. I am now going to convert it to something else - probably wav.
Maybe that will help.
The error message I get is when I want to make a DVD with menu for showing on TV. It picks up the error immediately.

Re: Making DVD unlinked or unreadable files
Hi Mikel
Please read this info for workflow to Burn the disc from a compliant video file.
http://lata.me.uk/corel/all.htm
You are best in converting your project to Mpeg2 that will create a new video of your project.
We can use that video to burn a disc which should reduce any issues you are having.
With your project open on the timelines go to Share – Mpeg2 choosing the following template.
Oh how long is your project?
Longer than 70 minutes and you will need to modify the Data Rate.
MPEG-2 (720 x 576, 16:9, 25p, 8Mbps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Frame-based
(DVD-PAL), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps) ( up to 70 minutes)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
Does the render complete without issues, play the new video t check quality.

Re: Making DVD unlinked or unreadable files
Some days are more embarrassing than others.
Firstly it is now happily rendering because - instead of making it complicated I eventually understood something was not linked.
the embarrassing part is I started simple and started to relink and then it occurred to me that I had used some stills and after I had made the video my wife made a book of the RAW stills but somehow the JPG files decided to wander around to other folders.
Please excuse my call for help - I will now go with simple first.

Re: Making DVD unlinked or unreadable files
Thanks Trevor - that info is burnt into my memory.
The software is quite smart pity it can't give a pop-up msg or tell you what file is annoying it.

Re: Making DVD unlinked or unreadable files
As for your question about mp3 audio files, all versions of VS can deal with them. BUT VS for some reason seems to have problems with mp3 files made with the LAMEmp3 codec. So if VS is having trouble with particular mp3 files, our advice is to covert the mp3 to standard wav files.
