Today for the first time ever, I can't save a script and I have been recording scripts for years. I have tried using PSP2018 32-bit on three computers, two of which have Windows 10 and one has Windows 7. On one computer, I also tested it with PSP X7 and X8 with the same error message. My personal PSP files folder is saved in OneDrive so everything can be accessed from everywhere. I did test it with X5 and I can save scripts using both OneDrive files and files on C Drive. So the location of the folder apparently makes no difference. It doesn't matter whether I save to an external drive or to the Scripts Trusted folder. The scripts adds an inner bevel to vector text (the text is either automatically converted to raster or I can convert it first - makes no difference.)Then it adds a gradient glow with Eye Candy 4000 and a drop shadow. It doesn't matter if I use all these effects or just one, and can't even save a quick script.
These are all 64-bit computers but I use the 32-bit versions of PSP so my plugins will work. I have wasted nearly the whole day testing this on various versions of PSP and various computers trying to find some reason for this. I can run previously saved scripts that use the same presets as the one I was trying to save.
This is the error message I get on all the computers and every version of PSP except X5.

This is the last script I was able to save in PSP 2018. It is similar but more complicated. Both of these scripts apply the requested effects on vector text. This one needs a 1 px stroke when the text is made.
Is OneDrive in the middle of syncing when this happens or does it happen all of the time? You only mentioned being able to save to the c drive on X5 I assume you tested saving to the C drive with all of the others as well?
Have you tried deleting caches? Or resetting your workspace to factory defaults?
I don't know if OneDrive is syncing or not but I have been using it for PSP files since X8 and through X9 and now 2018 without having a problem. I did try to save the script to the C drive with 2018 and got the same error message. I was able to save the script to both places with X5: C drive and OneDrive. OneDrive is on the D drive on two computers and on the C drive on the third. I haven't deleted any caches, didn't think of it but they are all saved on the respective C drive. Do you think resetting three versions of PSP on one computer and PSO 2018 on two other is really going to help? If this were on one computer with one version of PSP I would have already done it.
Well, I'm thinking that maybe PSP is saving a temporary file/cache when doing the initial recording and then moving that to a new location when you save. I don't know that for sure of course. Never looked into it. So I'm wondering if there is a locked cache file. Usually rebooting a computer would unlock the file if that were the case. Or deleting the cache would also remove the issue. Resetting to default is just that catch all. I don't know if it matter which of the three on the computer you do this to or if you'd need to do it to all of them. No idea. They could have all just suffered the same bug and have nothing to do with each other. I've never seen this on any of my machines with multiple versions of PSP. Kind of just grasping at straws here.
I'll try that on one computer. This morning it was a fresh boot up on the laptop. I moved to the desktop not expecting to have a problem. After testing it on multiple versions of PSP, I blamed it on Windows 10 - an update maybe. But was not expecting the same message on the Windows 7 computer, although it did have an update when I first booted it up. So it could still be a Windows issue.
I found out what the problem is but not why. The text I was recording the script on was filled with a pattern from the patterns folder. But I didn't start recording the script until after the text was down, it's not part of the script in any way. So it doesn't make sense that it would have affected it. I have used pattern filled text before, most recently a Halloween tag made just over a week ago. And now I can't even use the patter I used then. The text I used in X5 was also filled with the same pattern, but that's the only thing linking all the programs on three computers.
