Clip Symbol

Post by CliveM »

On VS 9, have just noticed a symbol on some video clips I recently shot under-water using a GoPro. Not sure what it means and fairly sure haven't seen it before and can't for the life of me find a reference anywhere in the standard User Guide. Hopefully the screenshot attaches here ok - it's the symbol on the right that I don't recognise; the one on the left is the standard symbol to signify the clip is a video file. So on the attached screenshot, file 420 has the standard video symbol, but clip 421 also has the symbol I don't recognise - does anyone know what this signifies please? Also, whereabouts in the standard user documentation is there a list of symbols used in VS - there must be one, but darned if I can find it! Thanks, Clive

Hi

That double icon looking thing indicates that Smart Proxy file has been created.
If you view Settings Smart Proxy - File Manager there should be a file having a similar name to the video file GOPRO0421

Not sure what the first icon indicates, a bit of a grey area I'm afraid????????

Thanks Trevor, that makes sense and sure enough in User\Documents\VS Pro\19.0\SmartProxy, there are the .upx smart proxy files. I have Smart Proxy enabled, so wonder why these files are created for some clips and not others and why I've not seen this before. I've checked previous projects and can't see this symbol appearing before and am almost certain I've had Smart Proxy enabled for long time. Anyway, at least I now know what this symbol means, so thanks for prompt answer to my query.

Thanks I had the same question. I turned on Smart Proxy and didn't know where to go to look up the symbols / icons. Manual did not have and info on icons even in the smart proxy section!
