VS Ultimate X10 -November promo
Good morning everyone,
When I opened my VS Ultimate X10 this morning, my Welcome tab gave me « November promo ». I've looked to what it included and saw many things for sale including : NewBlue Essentials III, VI and NewBlue 3D Explosions. I bought these filters with my VS Ultimate X6 and installed all of them successfully on two different computers under Windows 7. On same computers, I didn't succeed to install in VS Ultimate X8. NewBlue personnel confirmed that these effects weren't compatible anymore for VS X8 and wouldn't be for above.
Therefore, my questions are :
- Has anyone bought any of the effects named above or any other under the November promo ?
- If yes, did they install and work in Ultimate X10 ?
- If none are compatible with versions after X6, why does Corel still make the promotion of these effects ?
Have a nice day everyone.

Re: VS Ultimate X10 -November promo
First off, I have not received that promo offer. However, several years ago (2011) I bought the NewBlue Essentials packages 1 through to 6. These were for 32 bit versions of VS. They were updated by NewBlue in 2014 to 64 bit versions and designed, I think, at the time for VS X7. In more recent versions of VS Essentials packages 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7 have been included, and for X9 and X10 at least, and maybe even for X8, I have not bothered trying to install my purchased versions of packages 3 and 6. I distinctly remember doing so for X7 and they worked.
On reading this post, however, I decided to see if packages 3 and 6 would install in X10. In fact even the link to download those packages still worked. And they installed in all versions of VS on this computer (X6 through to X10), plus Cyberlink Power Director and Magix Movie Edit Pro which I also have on this computer. I used the serial number supplied by NB in 2014, which activated the packages. So far I have only tested them on X10, but they certainly work. So I am a bit surprised by NB saying that they would not work for X8 and more recent versions.
I assume the packages you bought for X6 may have been 32 bit versions. Or did you update to the 64 bit versions?

Re: VS Ultimate X10 -November promo
Like Ken, I also have Essentials Packages 1-6, originally 32 bit, then 64 bit, plus a few other packages, all of which are correctly installed
Here is a link to all the available 64 bit packages with Corel installers
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=55294
edit,
I think JaRo is referring to the Get More Content which displays on the Welcome Screen, which lists many New Blue Packages at reduced prices ie 72% off, but some of those Essentials Packages are already included in VSX10 ???? also would packages purchased from Corel include installers for all the other NLEs available

Re: VS Ultimate X10 -November promo
I've downloaded all packages from the link provided by RobertOZ.
Successfully installed NewBlue Video Essentials VI on both Ultimate X8 and X10. Essentials III installed but absolutely not showing in both versions. I then tried with V. Everything appeared in X8. When I've wanted to check in X10, the splash screen run forever but the software refused to open. Tried and tried and tried and I even restarted my computer. Same problem. I uninstalled Essentials V. X10 started without any problem, but, and this is a very big but no more Film FX showing although Audio ones are showing.

Re: VS Ultimate X10 -November promo
How are you trying to install the packages, all I did was to install them into VSX8, then copy them from the vft_plug folder into the same folders in VSX9/10

Re: VS Ultimate X10 -November promo
I installed all packages directly from the « exe » file. First, I installed Essentials VI, tried with III and then V. Exactly the same way for all as I did with Essentials VI which is present in X6, X8 and X10. After each install, I opened X8 and X10 to see if the filters were there. My last to install was V which was present in X8, but X10 wouldn't start. I've tried at least 10 times. Therefore, I uninstalled V with the Control Panel. By doing this, X10 started to open again.
My main problem now is that I can't see any film filters whatsoever in X10. I was seeing them prior install / uninstall Essentials V.

Re: VS Ultimate X10 -November promo
Can you confirm that all your New Blue Packages which you have installed actually display in the vft_plug folder ( C:/ProgramFiles/Corel/CorelVideoStudioX10/vft_plug.
If they do then try rebuilding the library, go to C:/Users/******/AppData/Roaming/UleadSystems/CorelVideoStudioPro(x64) and rename the 20.0 folder to 20.0Old. now relaunch VSX10 and the library will rebuild, hopefully your fx filters will now display

Re: VS Ultimate X10 -November promo
FWIW, I started with Essentials III. In the install procedure an early dialogue box opened empty, with a title along the lines of 'Install plug-in here". There was an Add button to manually type in the path where you wanted it installed. I thought since the 64 bit versions had come out some years ago that I should add in the path for X10, which I did. But another dialogue box which appeared when the installation proper had begun listed the names of all the VS versions on my computer, including X10, plus all the other editing programs I have which work with the NB filters. So I think X10 was found automatically, regardless of my manual entry of its path. And as I said above, both III and VI appeared in all those versions and programs, and worked from the get go. So I didn't have to use Robert's stratagem of simply copying the relevant files from an earlier version of vft_plug to X10.
But if you try installing Essentials III again, you might want to try manually entering the path in that specific dialogue box.

Problem solved as for seeing the filters, but another arised. Before the filters' name were showing in alphabetical order and now they are all mixed up. NewBlue Essentials VI, BCC Title and NewBlue Titler Pro are not there.RobertOZ wrote:Can you confirm that all your New Blue Packages which you have installed actually display in the vft_plug folder ( C:/ProgramFiles/Corel/CorelVideoStudioX10/vft_plug.

Re: VS Ultimate X10 -November promo
Hmmm... the alphabetical order of the filter listings has never bothered me, though I think the original filters which came with VS itself were always listed alphabetically, and then the filters installed later were not in alphabetical order. So what I see today is the original filters arranged alphabetically down to F, but then jump to N (Nature Painting) followed by a couple of NB filters, followed by Boris, proDAD, Special, then a few more NB filters including NB Titler.
But curiously, NB Essentials III and VI, which I installed yesterday and showed in the list, are no longer there, at least in the list. And the Boris that is there if for Boris Titler, while Boris Graffiti is missing. Moreover, looking at the X10 vft_plug folder, I could see no reference at all the Essentials III or VI filters. However, they were there in X8 and X7 (I don't have X9 on this computer).
I know that we decided some time in the past that there is a limit to how many filters are shown in this list. But I am at a loss to understand how two which were listed yesterday have now disappeared.
So I reinstalled both packages. And now they are back and moreover appear at the bottom of the list, with no other group removed to make way for them. So obviously I haven't reached the list limit as yet. And there are now specific references to all the III and VI filters in the X10 vft_plug folder. Moreover, I was not required to activate either of them again so obviously something still applied from yesterday's installation.
I will now reboot to see if they disappear again.
EDIT: After rebooting both III and VI remain in the list. Boris still only shows Titler, though Graffiti is shown in the All screen.

Same situation here Ken, however, if you open the "Special" category from the gallery, you will find Boris Graffiti 7.0. I think this is a hangover from VSX9 where there is no Boris Titler and Graffiti is located in "Special"

Re: VS Ultimate X10 -November promo
Re-installed all of Essentials VI, Certain of Art Effects and Essentials III that I had bought. Rebooted (re-started) computer. Not one of these filters showing, nor BCC Title Studio and NewBlue Titler Pro.
Furthermore, most of things I had added in my Library such as personal clip / images / music are not there. Instant projects files had to be rebuilded just like the first time I've used X10 after installation.
If I can't have these filters, mainly BCC Title Studio and NewBlue Titler Pro, I think it would be best for me to uninstall Ultimate X10 with the Control Panel and reinstall it from scratch. But I was wondering if there is a X10 clean-up tool, as I've made a search and found nothing. Yesterday, I renamed 20.0 to 20.0Old under C:/Users/******/AppData/Roaming/UleadSystems/CorelVideoStudioPro(x64). After doing that, a new file 20.0 appeared. When uninstalling with the Control Panel, will all files be deleted or should I manually delete them ? Are there any other files that I should do the same ?
All your advices are most welcome since I'm not an expert with all these procedures.
Edit : Some Corel products have a « repair tool » that we can use while the software is still present on the computer. Does someone know if VS Ultimate X10 has it also and, if so, in which file would I find it (which exe) ?

Hi JaRo
Not at my pc at the moment so cannot check the problems you are having
Video Studio does not have a repair option, but does have a Clean up Tool
View this post.
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59847
The tool does not give the option to remove personal data, unlike the Program and Features.
I would suggest you rename the 20.0 folder to 20.0-old
Then uninstall / reinstall video studio, any uninstall option will do.
As the guys mentioned a new 20.0 will be created, but you have the original to fall back on if you needed.
But as you are having problems a clean install may be best.
Bcc is a separate program, so uninstall from P and F, will be installed again when installing Video Studio, should then show in FX filter list.

Thank you very much lata for the link.
1. 20.0 was already renamed yesterday to 20.0Old. Should I modify it to « 20.0-old » as you wrote ?
2. Then after I will uninstall VS Ultimate X10. Should I run the Clean up Tool prior to uninstall or after ?
