Hi,
I have had VS for serveral versions now. I just upgraded to VS X10. The initial install didn't land where I wanted it, I unstalled VS X10 and tried to reinstall it. The installer validates all my downloaded files and I get to the install screen where it thinks the main program is already installed. Clicking install anyway fails, it does not try to reinstall the main program.
VS 10 does not show up in apps to uninstall it. I ran the VS 10 clean up tool here, but that did not fix the issue, the installer still thinks VS 10 is installed.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
Joel

Re: VS X10 fails to install
Hi Joel
And welcome to the forums.
Usually if we try to run the Web Installer again, if VS is installed the process will prompt us to uninstall.
I would suspect a corrupt Main program download or a corrupt Web Installer.
This is what I would try…..
Download a new Web Installer file from the trial, that will provide you with a 10Mb ish file.
https://www.videostudiopro.com/en/free-trials/
Download Now button.
Save that to the same folder as your installation files, adjacent to the 64bit folder.
Remove or rename the original Web Installer.
Running that will allow you to insert your serial number, installing the purchased version, first I would only try installing the Main package.
Incidentally you should now see a new Web Installer file saved to your download files folder.
If installation fails again, I would rename the Ultimate folder (within the 64Bit Folder) to “Ultimate Old”
Run the same installer again and download a new version of the Main Program.
Again try re-installing.
If the process fails please provide additional details of any errors, maybe a screen shot will help.
Oh we do need an internet connection to install the Main Program

Re: VS X10 fails to install
Hi,
None of those suggestions worked. I did find that the failures I see are because the " extras" try to install when there is no main program installed. I can't install the main program because the installer thinks it's already there.
I tried just a fresh install of the trial. When I click install, it just quickly says install finished, except that nothing gets installed.
When I uninstalled the program, something got left behind that makes the installer think the program is there.
The original install directory is gone, all instances of VS-X10 in programdata and appdata are gone.
What is the installer looking at that makes it think VS X10 is installed? registery key, other file somewhere....
Thanks
Joel
Can't install the main program because installed thinks it already is.
The program does not show up in the Windows app manager or with Revo Uninstaller

Re: VS X10 fails to install
Hi Joel
Usually the Cleanup tool for CVSX10 would remove all traces, but you indicated using that....
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59847
Can you download the service packs from here, then manually install, not sure what will happen?
https://www.videostudiopro.com/en/suppo ... sion-tab=0
But then try running the Cleanup file again.
From your image If you try to install the Main program only, it should prompt you to uninstall, I guess that will fail as well.
You could try System Restore to a point before you had the first problem.
If that fails I do not really know what to suggest, you should contact Corel Support, try the Chat Line seems to get a quick response.
Oh, did you download the Main program again, just in case the first was a corrupt file.

There was an earlier problem where the installer installed the 64 bit program to the 32 bit Program folder here:-
C:\Program Files (x86)\ Corel\Corel VideoStudio X10.
I do not think there were any problems running the program from that location.
As you have Revo, if those files exist you could try the “hunter mode”, a bit of a long shot?

Re: VS X10 fails to install
I did not find anything in X86.
I did try installing the demo from scratch, not using the previously downloaded files. The installer did not ask if I wanted to uninstall first, just jumped right to install finished.
I also tried installing with the original installer deselecting everything except the main program, same result.
I looked at the hunter mode in Revo, seems you still need something to point it at to uninstall. Problem is still that there is no trace of X10 installed on my system, from an installed app point of view.
I will try support Monday.
Thanks
Joel
