Quicktime codecs in X10?
It's been over a year since Apple dropped the axe on the quicktime player (too many security holes, a busted flush for support: product dropped). But the related codecs - for use with .mov clips in VS - were and still are? - good. But you had to install them separately using the quicktime installer and disable the player component as an install configuration.
.mov formats for camera clips are still used in new camera products, and I doubt it is going away soon. So VS will need to be able to manage .mov clips for a long time, and hence a continuing need for that quicktime .mov codec. Given that Apple no longer supports quicktime, does anyone know if Corel has now configured X10 with the codecs for .mov clips as part of the basic VS X10 installation, or is it still necessary to install the codec the hard way (brief outline above)?

Hi
I do not think Corel have followed this up in any way, certainly they have not provided any further info since their first post to the knowledge base
https://support.corel.com/hc/en-us/arti ... l-products
By the way I found that some Mov files needed QT whilst other very similar Mov files worked with VS.
Then again some can have their extension changed to mp4 but not all. The Mov extension does not tell us much.

Re: Quicktime codecs in X10?
I did install the last version of QT for the PC, but did not have it install anything to the web browsers that I use. I also have bitdefender and malwarebytes pro running in the background.
No problems yet!
But Corel has dropped the ball on this one. Big time.

Re: Quicktime codecs in X10?
Hi inhaianhsaigon
There are many reasons why our Mov and MP4 files do not work in Video Studio.
Installing the QT codec may help with some files but is not a 100% fix for all files, so after installing the QT codec you may still experience problems.
I would advise you to report any issues to Corel Support.
