Can't Make Video File

Post by JimDodds »

I'm using VideoStudio X9 Ultimate 19.7.0.12 on Windows 10 64 bit, with all updates and I've suddenly developed a problem trying to make video files in the Share dialog. When I click on the Start button I get a message saying "The file may be write-protected" and nothing happens. I also cannot change the File location dialog, which is grayed out. I guess that is why I cannot change the output drive either, but I don't see any way to do that to begin with. Any help would be appreciated. BTW, the blue square is only the first few seconds of the file :-)

That message occurs when your current file location no longer exists. Select another file location via the browse icon.

There are several posts regarding this error message in this forum

There is no browse icon. Look at my post. The line for changing the file location is greyed out and cannot be changed.

Your screen shot does not show the whole screen. The browse button is directly to the right of the File Location input box.

If you don't see the browse button then you screen display is setup incorrectly.

One more time... I just realized that the Browse folder doesn't show in my screen cap, and that's because the control DON'T MOVE WITH THE SCREEN! If the screen is less than maximized things start to disappear on the right side. BUG REPORT!

May not be a bug if a scroll bar is there to pan the displayed information

Hi Jim

The System Requirements for video studio recommend a minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768, that’s pretty small as thing go.
If your screen is above that then a scroll bar will show to the bottom of the Share Options panel, with the panel minimised.

In addition we can always resize the User Interface, by dragging the vertical line to the right of the preview screen we can expand the Share Options size to reveal the Browse Folder.

Incidentally the new layout will be used next time without the need for saving the layout, After all we probably don’t need the left hand panels at this stage? (the save layout does not seem to work for the Share panel - now that could be a bug- or at least something not preforming as expected)

That does not help with the misleading error report “the file may be write protected”

But now you know its not a big issue.

You should report this error message to Corel Support, I am sure a fix would be easy.

Thank you. At least there was a reason I was missing the scroll icon :-)
