VS Pro X9 Doesn't Recognize My Camcorder
I recently upgraded to VS Pro X9 and just tried to Capture video from my camcorder.
VS Pro failed to detect my camcorder--via USB--for footage upload!!
What's going on here?

Does Windows see your camcorder?
What is make/model of your camcorder?
There is very little information in your post to be able to help you

Re: VS Pro X9 Doesn't Recognize My Camcorder
Whatever your setup , it is better to download the video files to your PC using the normal Windows actions then open them in VS. Two steps are often better than one.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Is your camcorder a MiniDV that records footage to tape?canuck wrote:Does Windows see your camcorder?

or
a model that records to SD card or internal memory within the camera?

Not a MiniDV, but a Panasonic HDC-SD90. It does contain an SD card.lata wrote:Is your camcorder a MiniDV that records footage to tape?canuck wrote:Does Windows see your camcorder?

Re: VS Pro X9 Doesn't Recognize My Camcorder
But Dayo, why you need it to be detected by VS?
just copy the files with explorer and get them into VS.

Re: VS Pro X9 Doesn't Recognize My Camcorder
Hi DayO
You have two options, although there are other ways.
Option 1 /
from video studio right click the timeline and choose Import Digital Media
Browse for your camcorder, may be showing as Cam_SD,.
Expand the file system till you find the AVCHD folder, place a tick in that and OK
From the next window choose Start
The next window shows the actual files as a thumbnail, select the files you need or “choose select All”
Choose a working folder to hold the files
Files will be imported with similar names as “170805_085008_import.m2t”
Option 2 /
with your camcorder connected to the pc, go to Computer ( or this PC) where you should find a removable Drive marked Cam_SD, again browse for the AVCHD folder, then find the Stream folder, here you will find your video files.
Cam_SD:\PRIVATE\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM
Copy and paste the files to a folder on your hard drive, file names will be similar to 00002.MTS
now import the files to your library or timelines.
The advantage of option one is the unique file name that indicates the recording date.
because of that there is no possibility of overwriting previous files, option 2 uses the same file names which could be overwritten with the next import?
Make sure you create a different working folder for the next import.
