Audio Ducking not working after Rendering

Post by krp87b »

I'm using version X10 and my video sounds perfect in preview mode. The audio ducking works so the music track is lowered during speaking. However, when I create an MP4 video, the music is not lowering in all places. It does in some but not others. I've tried rendering in different MP4 resolutions with the same problem. Any ideas?

Play with some of the options in the ducking dialog; I sure had to do it in order to get satisfactory results.

I still find it is more reliable to do audio ducking manually by the "old" method of using the rubber band approach. This allows me to set the background sound levels and the fade-in and fade-out times manually to what I prefer.

I agree with ken. The original (X9) version was simple, had only 3 controls, easy to use so I did. The X10 version has several more, and the default values are also changed. So - like Ken - I've gone back to using the sound mixer to raise and lower sound levels on music and clips when voiceover is present. Fiddly to do, but simple and it works.

Uh, no. I have never used the sound mixer to control levels. As I said above, I use the tried and true method of manually raising or lowering the sound line (the rubber band) a suitable distance ahead of where the background needs to "duck" (e.g. 2 or 3 seconds) and raising it again a suitable time afterwards. Yes it is all manual and requires a bit of practice, but you certainly get what you want that way without relying on sometimes hit and miss auto effects like audio ducking... Yes, it's supposed to work, and does for most people most of the time. But not always or not always the way you want...
