Hi,
I am using VS X10 Ultimate.
I want to create an affect similar to this one:
https://youtu.be/I2bEqrdEwPQ?t=8s
There is a basic background video and and overlay still image that runs in a mask.
The problem is that if I do this I set the background video and add a still image overlay and a mask over it and then move it.
What happens is that the mask moves with the overlay image.
How do I do that?
Also is it possible to create a dynamic mask that changes size with time?
Thank you in advance.

Re: Moving a still image inside a mask
Hi
Masks are images with a transparent border or a cut out window.
View the Graphics library Frames section
If you place an image or video clip on a timeline, then place a mask below it the image will show through.
We can animate any image to float, pan and zoon around the screen, including the mask.
A few ways to do that but Customise Motion is probably the best tool.
The samples of the Alexandria trailer has several separate clips.
1 / A background
2 / the mask (transparent window)
3 / the moving image (probably a transparent gif or png)
4 / the fire effect (graphic animation)
5 / the text
We would be able to replicate that if we had the actual clips, most using Customise Motion.

zipo, the simplest way to get such look is to
Save you project.
Open fresh project and put your moving clip on track 1, apply the movement you want. > save as Clip1move.vsp
Reload your ongoing project , import that vsp to library
place it where needed , apply the mask and what else needed.

Re: Moving a still image inside a mask
I see what you mean.
So actually like in Alexandria the still image pan is on the lower layer.
The the fire video is on the upper layer and then I add a mask on top of it.
Seems simple enough - Don't know why I didn't think of it.
Thank you all for your help.

Re: Moving a still image inside a mask
Hi
When we think of layers we think images, similar to an Image Editor where ten top layer covers the lower layers.
Video Studio works in reverse where the lowest overlay track covers the upper tracks.
So the fire/flames effect is probably an animated Gif placed on the lowest track, the flames will lick over all tracks, If that makes sense.
I have attached a Smart Package showing a simple mask using sample clips from Video Studio library.

Re: Moving a still image inside a mask
Trevor, when you attach simple demo VSP that dont use X10 features it's better to make it as X8 or X9 for wider users.

Hi Asik----all features were created using X10 samples.asik1 wrote:Trevor, when you attach simple demo VSP that dont use X10 features it's better to make it as X8 or X9 for wider users.
The original poster is using X10 and so I thought it appropriate to create a sample using X10.5
If you have the opportunity to install X10 then I think you should do so.
Just for you here is another Smart Package The fire effect turned out to be butterflies, the soldier is now a teddy bear, but the effect is similar.

Re: Moving a still image inside a mask
It's not for me, it's for other users that do not use X10.
The problem in hand (as far as I understand) do not need any unique X10 feature for the solution.
