Square photo script

Post by Jan Shim »

Hi,

I'm looking for a script that automatically adds either black or white bars to the top and bottom of an image and then square crop to a specific dimension (eg 1500 pixels). This is to prep my photos for Instagram's Multiple Photos upload. I know IG now allows uploading of images in various different aspect ratios but it's limited to the same orientation only. You can't mix horizontal and vertical images in one go. Best approach is to have all images square.

Not really familiar with Instagram at all. But here is a test script, see if it works for you.

It works a little differently than what you asked for. What this does is it adds bars to the short side of the image to make it a square. Then resizes to the value you set. So no cropping. It also uses the foreground color so you can choose black white or any other color for the bars.

Thanks so much! It works great. Just select a colour from the palette before running the script and that's the border colour you end up getting. Neat
