how to add clips in video while retaining other tracks?

Post by tryingcake »

I am sure this has been answered. I do not know how to word it to search. What I'm doing is not working.

OK super amateur here. I have a video I am creating with several pieces taken with my cell. I am using the video track as well as sound, text and the second video track for some still photos to lay over the main video. I'm almost done and realize I have to add a clip at the beginning of all of this. Is there a way to insert the clip and have all other tracks automatically MOVE with the video track? Right now, all I know to do is finalize my video as is into one seamless track, then go in and add the forgotten clip. Of course, right now when I add a clip, the track I'm working on moves forward the length of the added clip (let's say 30 seconds) but the other tracks remain the same. I have to manually readjust them. If I have a lot going on, this can be a pain.

Thanks!

I am using corel videostudio x9

The function you require is called 'Ripple Editing'

at the left hand end of the timeline you should see some open padlocks , click on the top one to close it and enable ripple editing

then click to close the padlocks on the end of all the tracks you wish to lock to the top one
