How to start PSP2018 in Edit Mode?
Can't find a workspace preference ... don't like the "welcome", want to just get to the edit workspace which is the reason I bought the software. Not for a pretty interface to be one more step before I can do what I want.
Can I do that?

Yes, in the preferences under the "Tabs" section there is a "Set Edit as default" option.

Thank you so much LeviFiction!
"Tabs" just didn't register when I was looking. Don't remember it being called that in previous versions ... but I've been wrong a few times already today.

It is new as it allows you to also turn off the manage and adjust tabs.

Re: How to start PSP2018 in Edit Mode?
Well all was well with being able to start directly to Edit page for me but just installed Update 1 and now I get this unwanted page on startup and have to click the Edit button.LeviFiction wrote:Yes, in the preferences under the "Tabs" section there is a "Set Edit as default" option.
Sorry I must be blind but I cannot find any TABS section in Preferences. There is only
General Program Preferences
File Format Preferences
File Format Associations
File Locations
Auto Save Settings
Reset Preferences
Switch Language
and there is NO TABS section with any of those.

I do not have 2018 , For X9 it was called Default Launch Workspace.
From your Preferences list open / view the General Preferences, bottom of list, I think.

Re: How to start PSP2018 in Edit Mode?
When did you download the update? The original one was full of bugs and was withdrawn by Corel. A new one has been issued and should give you version 20.2.0.1 once installed. If you don't have that, then you need to download the new Update.AlanLaughton wrote:just installed Update 1 and now I get this unwanted page on startup and have to click the Edit button.
FWIW, one of the things the buggy update did was to remove the ability to set the opening page to Edit (or something else of your preference).

Re: How to start PSP2018 in Edit Mode?
PSP just popped up a windows a couple weeks back saying there was an update, so I updated. Just checked it was 20.1.0.15 so installed the new 20.2.0.1 and that now has a TABS option so it has now fixed the problem and I can boot to Edit screen once again. Thanks.

I installed NIK and KPT filters through program ... but they don't show up in Effects. Thought I might try to force the program to look for them, but nope.
That also means I won't be able to install other filters if I should decide to, and that's besides the NIK and KPT that ARE INSTALLED but don't show up.

Re: How to start PSP2018 in Edit Mode?
I recommend either a) reset all menus, b) simply dragging the File Locations command back into the menu, or c) resetting the whole workspace back to default.
a) Resetting all menus
1) View -> Customize
2) Click Menu tab
3) Hit "Reset" button under "Application Frame Menus:"
b) Draggin File Locations back into place
1) View ->Customize
2) On Commands Tab make sure File is selected under "Categories"
3) Find "File Locations" in the Commands list - it will be near the bottom next to autosave settings and file format associations.
4) With the customize dialog still on, open the File menu, then the preferences sub menu
5) Click and drag File Locations into the appropriate spot on the submenu
6) Close customize
c) Resetting the full workspace
1) Close PSP
2) Hold SHIFT and open PSP
3) It'll ask if you want to reset to factory defaults (losing all customization) hit yes and everything should be back to normal.

first, everyone here is always helpful ... this isn't a criticism, but here's what is going on with my copy downloaded and installed yesterday:LeviFiction wrote:I recommend either a) reset all menus, b) simply dragging the File Locations command back into the menu, or c) resetting the whole workspace back to default.

a) Resetting all menus: I don't have a "Menu" tab within View>Customize. I only have an "Options" tab
b) as above, I only have "Options" tab ... no "Commands" tab
c) Figured I would try this one (haven't been able to customize anything but starting in edit mode) but I'm just resetting the one customization I did ... but those menu items didn't appear.
Oh, and contacting support is a joke! Did they hire Serif's old phone crew?

Re: How to start PSP2018 in Edit Mode?
I suspect you may be in the Essentials workspace which limits the number of options available to you. So right click anywhere on the PSP screen. A dropdown menu should appear, and at the bottom of it left click on Workspace and choose Complete. The options that you do not have should now appear.

Re: How to start PSP2018 in Edit Mode?
Assuming you are correct about what's causing the OP's issue, I'll repeat for emphasis (in case someone at Corel comes across this again) the having PSP default to Essentials when installed is a huge mistake because it introduces a crippled program to users. There have been various posts by people asking for help finding stuff when the problem is that PSP opens with only the Essentials workspace ad default. They promote (advertise) the program based on all the stuff it can do and then introduce it to users with many of those options not available. Pretty backwards marketing decision IMHO.Ken Berry wrote:I suspect you may be in the Essentials workspace which limits the number of options available to you.
