"cancel" or stop a tool
I am working in the edit tab of PSP2018 . I have selected ,lets say eraser tool, made an edit. Now want to cancel the tool without selecting another tool. How do I do this? Is there a key stroke to do this or do I have to hit the "A" key to get back to the pan tool.

You can't just cancel a tool. And I'm not sure why you would want to. If you could you'd still have to click some button or menu item to do so and you'd at least need a cursor or something still available. So it just makes sense to select what you'd like your cursor to look like - e.g., pan, pick, move, etc.

FWIW worth I always use the Pan tool as my home base. That way you don't start with the wrong tool by mistake. It's just one of those habits you need to develop.

Generally so do I, but I'm not adverse to using the Move tool as my home base also.brucet wrote:FWIW worth I always use the Pan tool as my home base. That way you don't start with the wrong tool by mistake. It's just one of those habits you need to develop.

Re: "cancel" or stop a tool
Thanks, kinda what I thought. In both AutoCAD and Sketchup when finished with a tool , either the enter key or the space bar will cancel the tool. That is the reason for the question.

OP"lets say eraser tool, made an edit. Now want to cancel the tool without selecting another tool"
Or does the OP mean they had the eraser tool selected , made an edit and want to reverse that edit and still have the eraser tool. In which case they mean undo the operation. This is done using the undo button on the top row near the print icon. or using Control Z or Alt Backspace

Thanks

I am aware of the ability to undo actions and the shortcuts for that action.hartpaul wrote:OP"lets say eraser tool, made an edit. Now want to cancel the tool without selecting another tool"
