PSP 2018 Layers palette icons?
As shown in the attached image, my PSP X9 has icons above the layer thumbs and at the bottom of the palette, while 2018 has text instead (ignore the one bottom left - it's a boundscript). Can somebody please tell me how I managed to get icons in X9 so that I can have them in 2018? This is 2018 with the new - and apparently working so far - Update 1.

Yeah, that's a workspace error. Have you tried resetting the layers palette toolbar? Open Customize toolbars, select the layers palette toolbars and hit Reset. Could also try resetting the whole workspace.

Unfortunately, resetting the toolbar made it worse. Now I've lost even the text. If I mouse over and click where the text or icons should be I get a shadow of a button and and clicking bring up the menu associated with it but as I can't see what the buttons are for it's hit and miss.LeviFiction wrote:Yeah, that's a workspace error. EDIT: After closing and restarting 2018 I at least got the text back, because I got my own workspace back, although that workspace is one where the text shows in that palette rather than icons. So still don't know how to get the icons back without trying something that might lose me my otherwise customized workspace.

Re: PSP 2018 Layers palette icons?
UPDATE ON MY LACK OF LAYER PALETTE ICONS: I completely uninstalled 2018 and then reinstalled and the icons came back on the Layers palette. Being a chance taker I then installed the latest (fixed) update before I did any customizations and I still have the icons. I can only suspect that previously installing the fixed update over the first buggy update caused my issue, but will never know for sure.
Now I have to do all of my workspace customizations over again, plus preferences, etc. One hopes there are no new bugs in this update!

Re: PSP 2018 Layers palette icons?
Nev, this is something that has been happening for many versions now. It seems to come and go on a whim which makes it very hard to replicate and nail down what causes it. Normally resetting the tool bar as Levi mentioned will work but not always.
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed
