I use Paint shop pro a lot for making game graphics and it's great (far better than Photoshop) but it's so sad that I can't check the animation within the program itself. Since there is absolutely nothing in the way of animation in PSP I'd like to make a suggestion for a clean and simple feature for a future update.
This would be an animation feature integrated with the grid -
Say you have rows and columns of 64x64 grids (or whatever size you want) and you position your animation frames in there. There could be an "Animate" button which when pressed, brings up another column of grid squares on the left and that would be your player or "screen" for the row (or a separate player window would do). You could then select a frame (grid square) in the row and click back and forth frame by frame (with cursor keys or specialised buttons) which would flick animate the frames in the player block on the left or the window. This would allow you to see how the grid squares look together when quickly switched between and allow you to make corrections within the frame(s) and position them correctly with each other.
Then you could use the selection tool to highlight or choose the frames you want played and hit play to see them animate in the player square on the left at whatever speed (with option to save of course. Maybe for quick Gif making or just a general animation).
All it would take would be a simple chopping and pasting routine based on the grid itself which is already there, so in essence it's half done already.
This would be a tremendously advantageous feature to have, because right now it's really the only thing which I need Photoshop for, but since their animation feature is layer based it's far more cumbersome to employ. The grid system would a quicker and cleaner way to check animations of say, a sprite sheet. Of course, having both would really put PSP ahead of the competition.
Thanks for reading.

Perhaps this would be better posted in the Wishlist for 2019.
I doubt, however, that Corel would act on it, as they would understandably prefer that you purchase and use their video programs as well as having PSP.

You may be correct, but all I was suggesting is a way of quickly and cleanly flicking through images or parts of a bigger image rather than full on video production.

And Animation Shop is not fit for you?
Have you looked at some alternatives? - https://alternativeto.net/software/animation-shop/
OR
create Python script to generate GIF and show it on small window (Tkinter).
