Tired of PSP before I even managed to instal the trial...
I have tried for weeks download the trial version of Paint Shop Pro 2018, but it does not work for me. I have never had any problems with any other software I have downloaded..why is Corel PSP such a pain to get started with..???

Do not think it would help. Others have asked Corel same questions I have, but without getting any help/solutions to solve the problem. I don´t understand why only Paint Shop Pro (and no other software) creates trouble when downloading it..?

I'm not an expert and don't understand Corel's logic. But Here's how I downloaded the trial of PSP2018.
Go to their website. Click on the download button. Once done find the downloaded installer file on your computer. Make sure your are still connected to the internet and double click the installer. Go and make a cup of coffee while the installer downloads PSP and installs it. It can take quite a while.
I'm sure, like me, folks think that the downloaded installer is PSP. It's not. It's only a small program that will download and install PSP. Why Corel does it this way is beyond me. And why they don't make this method clear is beyond everyone!!!
good luck

Also, why Corel doesn't at least provide the alternative to download the whole installation program is beyond me also. And, at a minimum, they should be immediately providing that complete install package to those who have reported that they can't use the download installer. Typical Corel non-customer service I'm afraid.

Re: Tired of PSP before I even managed to instal the trial..
Not sure how I got this, but I downloaded and ran the installer PSP2018_Ult.exe 5956KB which then downloaded and installed the rest of the program.
Later on a needed to install it on my travelling laptop so copied the installer over to it and then ran it again, - again it downloaded the rest and installed the program.
In all cases I place downloaded program files in a separate folder on my C drive called New Programs. It contains sub folders eg PSPX9 which has all the files I downloaded for PSP X9 - Aftershot3.exe, PSPX(_Cleanup_v1.0 etc - anything associated with that version of PSP gets saved there.
Now after installing PSP 2018 I find another folder there called psp2018_ult
It contains two folders
Lang and Setup. and a number of DLL files and a setup.exe 3016KB along with a number of setup files . SetupARP.exe,
The Setup folder contains a whole load of .mst and .msi files setup.msi, 1028.mst, 1029,mst etc
No single 350 000Km to 400 000 Kb file which can install the program off line.
Makes me wonder if that psp2018_ult is now the preferred option for installing off line,

Re: Tired of PSP before I even managed to instal the trial..
I thought for a while that it would work, but I could not install the PSP2018_ULT.exe because I don´t have a serial number. I thought it would be possible to choose to install it as a "Trial", but it was not. No way I will buy any Corel program in the future..hartpaul wrote:Not sure how I got this, but I downloaded and ran the installer PSP2018_Ult.exe 5956KB which then downloaded and installed the rest of the program.

Re: Tired of PSP before I even managed to instal the trial..
FWIW I'm still on PSPx8. But temptation got the better of me and I thought I would trial PSP2018. From my old laptop I downloaded the zip file psp_en_64. Copied that zip file to a memory stick.
Then I pasted it on my work/travel laptop. I copied the file to my Download folder on the travel laptop. Against my own rules I connected my laptop to the internet. Unzipped the psp_en_64 file. And let it run. It soon had PSP2018 installed with no issues. I followed the instructions, all the while still connected to the internet. Received an email from Corel with the registration/pass word information.
Messy? Maybe. But I think breaking the internet connection may be some folks problems.
Hope this helps.
