Showing, Separating, Deleting, and Adding New: sound tracks
Hi,
I want to delete PART OF the sound track from one piece of film footage and replace it with PART OF the sound track from another piece. But can't find anything relating to this anywhere.
I know how to do this in Adobe Premiere Pro but I want to move over to using Corel Video Studio Pro X8 more instead.
Is this possible?
At the moment I can see the sound track in one video and split it from the video. But I can't then split the sound from a second piece of footage.
Or rather I can only split the 2nd sound track from its video if I totally delete the first one.
I don't want to do that.
I need some of that first video's sound track but not all of it.
Is there only one sound track allowed in Corel Video Studio Pro X8?
(I don't care about the 'Music track' at the moment, I just want to edit the main recorded sound tracks.)
I've searched this part of the forum, and the main part with no luck at all. I've also looked in the Corel Video Studio.PDF and couldn't find what I needed to know there either.
I am using Corel Video Studio Pro X8,
I recorded my footage with a Camcorder, the footage is in the form of:
AVCHD Video (.MTS)
So the sound arrives in programs linked to the video.
I downloaded from the camera to the PC via USB cable
Here is what Adobe says about the audio track Properties:
File Path: E:\Craft\CraftVideos\ArtExchanges\***\VoiceOvers\CoveringHardBoard.MTS
Type: MPEG Movie
File Size: 313.5 MB
Image Size: 1920 x 1080
Pixel Depth: 32
Frame Rate: 25.00
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
Total Duration: 00:02:44:16
Average Data Rate: 1.9 MB / second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
I've no idea where the same information is located in Corel Video Studio Pro X8
And this is PAL.
I am making a video for the internet (YouTube ATM)

Hi, Unfortunately VS will split only to one audio track, so all you have to do is to move that audio to a different track and than you can split any other video clip
Use Track manager to add more needed tracks.

Hi asik1,
I found the Track Manager but it will only add a new Music track not a Voice track. Voice track is greyed out. I have tried moving one voice track to a music one - that works.
My question now is what does being in a "Music Track" do to that sound?
If it's not limiting it in any way - what's the point of a "Voice Track" at all?

Well Franont, unfortunately you can add "what's the point of..." to many useless things/features in VS.

Re: Showing, Separating, Deleting, and Adding New: sound tra
Hi
Just a bit of a learning curve here.
Split audio does two things:-
1 / mutes the video
2 / places a copy of the audio stream to the voice track
If you wish to undo the Split Audio, simply delete the (2) audio clip, undo mute for (1) video.
Try this
With your video on the top track, right click split audio, this clip to be used again on the timeline.
Drag to the library as a copy, delete clip from timelines, unmute video clip, I assume you need that audio?
Add your new audio file from library to the music track in the new position. Probably you do not need to use the library but it does save a copy.
If you wish to move a smaller part you can first use the scissors to cut the video into sections creating smaller clips.
Right click also gives the option to Fade In or Out, default fade duration can be set via Preferences (F6).
Generally the Music track and Voice track work the same, other than doing a Voice Over where recordings load to the Voice track, and that's the point! a track available for voice overs, otherwise they very similar. You can freely move audio from Voice to Music tracks, no problems.
There is also an option to view the timelines in Sound Mixer, this will display the audio wave forms, can be useful when syncing audio clips. In addition we can adjust the audio levels, read the user guides regarding Sound Mixer.
I do not understand the Voice Track being Greyed out, unless you have clicked the Mic symbol to the left that has Disabled the track. Float your mouse over the mic for a tool tip?

Re: Showing, Separating, Deleting, and Adding New: sound tra
Couple of observations - "Voice Track" is just a label; for your desired task it makes no difference. The split function needs a target container and the track labeled "Voice" is what the programers selected. Who cares? Once split and loaded to the VT you can move it to a track labeled "Music Track."asik1 wrote:Trevor, I don't us X10 but here on my 19.2 (and ever on VS) split audio will put it only to the voice track.

Gewb, you misunderstood who is the boss here. It's you that should make the decision and not the program. You want to split the audio but the program insist doing so ONLY to the voice. That's stupid.gewb wrote:Couple of observations - "Voice Track" is just a label; for your desired task it makes no difference. Who cares? I care , why I have to do extra work instead of a claver software?

Well, ok, if grabbing and moving a clip down one track is too much work then VS may not be for you.asik1 wrote: Gewb, you misunderstood who is the boss here. Anyway, I made a short video capture showing how I do it. It is on my Box account and can be downloaded from here:

It may start on the voice track but you can drag the audio from the voice track onto any audio track you want.asik1 wrote:Trevor, I don't us X10 but here on my 19.2 (and ever on VS) split audio will put it only to the voice track.

Re: Showing, Separating, Deleting, and Adding New: sound tra
Hi GEWB
Thanks for the video, yep there are many ways to rearrange the audio, I suppose which we use depends on what we are trying to achieve.
I try to avoid using split audio where I can.
Seems we have similar interests in wildlife, the video and images could be some of our own.

I, too, try to avoid splitting audio but sometimes there are few fast easy options. And I do understand asik1's frustrations with software programmers - I'm just as passionate about my hatred of Windows 10 which is why I'll never use it.lata wrote:Hi GEWB
