Rendering Speed Tip

Post by sjj1805 »

I was editing a 4 and half minute clip earlier tonight and thought I would share this with you as I am sure others may come across the problem and be interested in the result.

My 4 and half minute AVI clip had several crossfade transitions. The soundtrack was poor and so I created two replacement soundtracks, the first about 2 mins long the other for the remaining 2 and half minutes.

I muted the original soundtracks from the clips, dropped the two replacement soundtracks onto the soundtrack line. I then started off the rendering process. At this point I had to leave my computer to attend to other matters.

I returned to my computer 2 hours later to find it had only reached 70%
At this rate it would take 3 hours just to render a 4 and half minute clip.

SOLUTION.

I therefore stopped the rendering process.
I then created a soundfile. This took just a few seconds.
I then deleted the two replacement soundfiles.
Next step, render the video using EXACTLY the same settings as before.
The video rendered in a couple of minutes.
Following this I then took the newly created video file, added the newly extracted soundtrack and rendered it again. This time it rendered in less than a minute. The whole process took about 5 minutes.

I just thought I would share this as I am sure others may come across this situation.
