Monday, after the second update1 came out, I installed PSP 2018 on another laptop. I copied the update1 file from my other computer and it wouldn't install. I kept getting an error message. I copied it over my wireless network so might have been a corrupt file. So I let the automatic update run when closing the program and it downloaded and installed the first buggy update1. This was days after that update dowlnoad link was pulled. Last night I uninstalled and reinstalled 2018 on that second laptop and now the installed version is 20.2.0.1; so no need to download the update file.

I really don't like having to download the program again every time you install it. That is going to limit the number of times you can do that, once support for this version ends. I had copied the zip file from my temp folder after the first installation but it wasn't used.

One can only imagine the combination of versions, OSes, hardware setup and other configuration that we need to test. We try to be as thorough as possible with manual and automated testing. However, it's simply not possible to produce a zero defect release, regardless of budget. The question is how conspicuous a defect is. That's the reality of complex products / projects.
brucet wrote:All I would like to see is for Corel to publish a report covering which systems/setups they have tested with. That way we could help target potential problem areas. Yes free beta testers. But nonetheless a better solution than what currently exists.
We do have private beta testers. However, I think what you're referring to is leveraging participants of this u2u forum for public beta tests. Unfortunately, this isn't something that Corel corporately supports. Public beta testing isn't something we haven't thought of but there's much greater complexity to it than appears.

Nev I had my tongue in my cheek when I suggested 'free beta testers'. (Too many cooks in the kitchen syndrome). However I would like to see Corel publish, somewhere, the variants that they test. If we could simply see that report then we could narrow down if it is, or isn't, a setup issue. This would also help Corel when trying to diagnose various issues.

Again, thanks for posting here on these forums.

Additionally, Who use selections. "Selection Smooth" is extremely slow in PSP 2018. I tried all suggestions by Corel Support. Reinstalled PSP and clean out. Nothing works.
CPU usage max 18%. Hence waiting time minutes and not seconds. also memory not used at all.

Perfect improvement downward.
Enjoy - waiting time.

Thanks for the note. Though, I must confess that I don't recall any improvements being made to "selection smooth". Don't think we touched it at all.

We'll look into it.
