Thanks for the info. While it's great to have a link to the update file it's a shame that Corel still hasn't updated the Updates page itself nor provided any info about what the update fixes.
Regards,

That is probably coming in soon. Radim has a habit of posting the link before the page is updated. Probably wasn't even supposed to be notified of the update yet.

With a lot of misfortunes from users of PSP 2018 I expected in comming days an update.

I just estimated a possible update link url and tested it randomly yesterday. Like this, nothing more. Everybody can do it...

I keep using the menu entry "Search for upadtes" and it tells me there isn't any ...
Why do we have to look at the forum to get this info?

You don't. Radim, as he mentioned, just does a general name guess at the name and finds out early on when they are adding an update. And Corel puts everything into place slowly. First they upload the file, then they design the page notification. Then they begin what I imagine is a staggered roll out so that millions of users aren't simultaneously downloading the update. Eventually, your copy of PSP would have found it.

Well at least the update came with a warning to save your existing workspace. And in my case at least, the plug-ins remained...

And still the program changes the workspace back to the standard when you change from the Editor to the Manager and back ...
(I don't know, if "Editor" and "Manager" are the right words for the program parts of PSP2017. In german it's "Bearbeiten" and "Verwalten")

In my case it didn't.
I saved my workspace and I always save a copy outside of Corel's default location, so Corel can't overwrite the file as it did in X8 with an update.
But loading my workspace file only gave me my personal toolbar and the workspace colour, which I set for light grey.
The only plugin loaded is Corel's own KTP collection in the 32-bit version of 2018.
In the 64-bit version only Perfectly Clear and Redfield plugins are visible.
What I haven't tried yet is shutting the computer down, leaving it of for 10 minutes or so and try again.

UPDATE: Corel has removed the update from their update page. Let's hope that a new release doesn't mean we have to start from scratch again.
I just finished setting up both bit-versions again. :(

I said I wouldn't but I did!! I downloaded the trial version of PSP2018. No 'real' issues for me. But I simply can't get my head around the new way of handling the UI. Edit/Adjust etc. I read every post here to learn what's going on and to get tips on what to look for and what to avoid.

But my concern is that this 'stuff' seems to happen with every new version of PSP. Release a new version. Confuse everyone. Let the users be Beta testers. Ignore 'real' bugs and blame the user. I could go on. But there seems to something very incompetent in the Corel workflow. Release, ignore, deny, fix and break other stuff while fixing what they said wasn't broken.

Hmmp. Makes me wonder how they think they can compete with the other options on the market.

Here's a simple example. I now use Photoline as my go to editor. I use PSPx8 for some favorite adjustments and tools. (Photoline allows me to use PSP as an external editor. Flip to PSP and flip back seamlessly). Photoline has just released an update to version 20. Free for all v20 users. Here's a link to what they changed and how they approach the release. https://www.pl32.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5701 Now add to that that the developers of Photoline are open to suggestions. Acknowledge issues. And make posts and answer questions on their forum.

I have use PSP since the Jasc days. PSP5. But Corel is doing nothing to keep me as a user.

Bruce

Note - anyone wanting to trial Photoline note that the whole download is a whopping 24 meg!

Brucet, if you don't like PSP, why do you buy it? Just stick with your beloved Photoline and don't use every opportunity to promote the software. If we were that interested we wouldn't be on the PSP board now, would we?
