Adding PSP Script Presets

Post by Muriel »

Well, Good Evening!

I am trying without success to add two Selections presets to PSP X9. They are ASDwebs_Sel_#112.PspSelection and ASDwebs_Sel_#113.PspSelection . I have popped them into the Windows C/Program Data/Corel/Paint Shop Pro X9/Corel 12. That is where they should be happy alongside all the other PspSelections. I put them into the dropdown Presets Box in the Selections tool, but to no avail. Nor do they work in Version X6!!

So, once again I appeal to the Great Minds that hang out here: What am I missing and what am I doing wrong?

Many thanks..

Muriel!

Hi Muriel,
Thanks for your enquiry.
1. I did a search based on one of your selections. I found the page here for anyone else concerned.
http://www.asdwebdesigns.nl/translation ... Xmass.html

2. I downloaded the Materials download (.rar file) and extracted the files into a folder (PSP Selections ) on my desktop.
I observed the files ASDwebs_Sel_#113.PspSelection and ASDwebs_Sel_#112.PspSelection .
3. I opened PSP X3 (PSP13) for which the tutorial was written - just in case it only worked with that version.
I loaded an image and cropped it to 750 x 550 pixels (the size in the tutorial).
4. I made a freehand selection and saved it to desk as ZZZZ. Selections > Load/Save Selection > Save Selection to Disk .
I then searched for the location of that selection and found it in Documents/My PSP Files/ Selections.
I then copied ASDwebs_Sel_#113.PspSelection and ASDwebs_Sel_#112.PspSelection to the same folder.

5. Then back to the image and Selections > Load/Save Selection > Load Selection from Disk chose ASDwebs_Sel_#113.PspSelection and it loaded correctly.

6 Repeated all this with PSP X9 except that this time the folder location was C:\Users\paul\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\19.0\Selections
(Windows 10) and this also worked correctly.
Regards
Paul

Good Morning!

Oh my goodness! You have spent so much time sorting this out, and I cannot thank you enough. At the moment I have to head out the door for a couple of hours, but I shall be back and get to work. It is so frustrating to struggle with this sort of glitch.

Many thanks again!

Good Evening, Paul!

Well, I followed your instructions to the letter, copying/pasting the two selections into the ML/My Documents/Corel Paint Shop Pro/19.0/Selections. The only selection that opens properly is the stairs one. So, I am 50% there!

I love a challenge such as this one. It keeps this old brain that is well past its sell by date functioning. Many thanks again for your help! It is very appreciated.

You might try re downloading and unzipping them again. Since one works, then you know that it belongs in that folder.
Note also that the size must match what they have in the tutorial or it gets displaced a bit.
