Hi Folks
I'm a new user of VSx10. Just started working on my first video and I ran into a problem.
I finished a sample clip and exported to mpeg4 format. During edit, I manually aligned the Text and audio to end exactly inline with the last video clip.
However my video movie ends abruptly with a grey screen and the playback slider is at 75% at this event not at 99 or 100%. Hence the slider continues showing a grey screen as is progresses forward for another minute. Why does the Windows 10 player not see the end-of-file as end of video ? How can I freeze the last frame of the clip as t he closing shot of the video and not have the player display a grey screen?
Thanks for your inputs on this.

Hi G0bble
Think what you need is a snapshot of the final video frame you wish to be visible until the end of your file, which, I believe is governed at present by your audio length. (An L cut?)
To take the snapshot - position the cursor (CTI) at the frame you require, ensuring you are in project mode, click on the film reel icon with the red dot above the timeline, click the "Snapshot" option. This puts an image in your library that can now be pulled down to the timeline, positioned and resized as appropriate.

Hi
Not sure I understand what is happening here….
Do you have any clips further up the timeline? text, audio, black clip etc.
Below the preview screen are navigation buttons
Play, Home , Previous, End
Select the project mode, then hit the “end”
Your curser will jump to the end of your project.
Is that the end of your video clips?
Also to the far right of timeline are timeline zoom options, press the Fit Project in timeline window.
What shows at the end of the project?

Re: End of video is actually 75% in player
Sorry for the late reply folks. Here is a screenshot that "explains" what is happening. The timeline extends beyond the last clip. IIRC my original video was first edited to be around 8mins then I cut out and shortened the video to 5+mins. But how to make the extra padding vanish and terminate at end-of-last-clip?

The timeline project duration clock is showing 8 mins 22 secs so there is definitely something in the timeline at that point, try clicking on the magnifying glass with the '+' (can be seen in your screen shot) this will expand the timeline to it's maximum so that you will see the tiniest clip. Now manually slide the whole timeline along until you have the 8:22 point on screen I am sure you will find a tiny snippet of title / sound , maybe only 0.1 second at the point left from previous editing, deleting it will solve the problem

Hi
You are not viewing the program in full……….
Your User Interface, your workstation is set to a smaller size, please click the Maximize ( square button Top right of the UI) that will display the entire timelines, hopefully.
Now select the icon far left or the timelines on the timecode track, float your mouse for a tool tip, look for “Show all visible tracks”
Ok now in preview mode hit that End button again, your curser should show at the end of your project.
Also viewing your image, to the right of the”+” symbol is a double arrow icon, “ fit project to timeline” will help viewing the entire project.

Re: End of video is actually 75% in player
BJC, You were spot on - I found a "0.1s" clip.
Lata, Thanks for the UI tips.
It works in the exported version as I want it now. However the UI timeline still does not end at 5:22 but goes up to 10m. What gives?

Re: End of video is actually 75% in player
The length of the timeline displayed in the UI is entirely dependant on the magnification settings you are using at that instant
Explore the timeline controls above the right hand end of the timeline, the slider expands and contracts the timeline so you can show from around 15 seconds length up to 22 minutes, the magnify glasses with the '+' and '-' on change the length in increments it is your choice what length timeline is displayed. However much is displayed does not affect your final project length only the length containing video clips will be rendered.
To the right of the slider is a small box with a double ended horizontal arrow in it, the mouse tip will display "fit project in timeline window" click on that and your timeline will expand (or contract) to fit the complete project nicely in the UI display
to the right again is a small clock face 'RIGHT' click on that to display a number of preset options for the timeline length that you can choose to your preference
to the right again is a digital timer. this shows the actual length of your project so and is the length that will render out to your final video (unless you have selected only a small section to render. but that's another story)
