FYI - I was offered an updater out side of normal release cycles and the installer is more typical of well made tools common in the industry and doesn't try to outsmart hackers in ways that interfere with actual paying customers.
It worked first time and I am now at v10.5.xxx. There was never anything wrong with my current install, just the tools Corel provides paying customers failing to work properly.
My sincere thanks to the person stepping up to help (they'll chime in if they can).

Glad the service pack worked for you.
The files appear to be identical to the ones I downloaded about 3 weeks ago.
Unfortunately for me, well I ran the service pack again, just to test, that installed ok, Now VS x10 will not run, just shows the splash screen, forever.
