Re: thrid party plugins
Installing is both easy and hard....it depends on the plugin. As far as PSP goes all you have to do is make sure PSP can see the plugin file. Plugins tend to have the file extension ".8bf" or ".8bi". You do this by adding the directory where the plugin is to PSP's list of file locations.
To edit the file locations go to File -> Preferences -> File Locations.
Choose "Plugins" from the list on the left. You can then add a new directory to the list of directories that PSP looks in to find plugins.
Now, some plugins are just files you download and place onto your computer yourself. For plugins like these I created an empty "Plugins" folder inside My Documents and told PSP to look in there for new plugins. Then when I download a plugin I simply drop the ".8bf" file (and any dependencies if it has any) into this folder. The next time I load PSP the plugin is loaded.
Other plugins have installers, but most of these tend to install for Photoshop not PaintSHop Pro. So you'll need to find where this installer put the plugin, then just tell PSP to look in that folder. If the plugin can run in PSP then it should show up the next time you open PSP.
There are some plugins that require extra files to run, but those tend to the be the much older plugins. So I don't think we need to go into those unless you ddownload some.

I don't use plugins anymore. Nik being free are a nice place to start though. Someone even made a short tutorial for installing them.
